Job summary

Sirona care & health are seeking a dynamic and experienced operational Band 7 podiatrist with a passion for leadership and treating the high-risk foot to join our team. This is a secondment opportunity, with the successful candidate joining the team in February 2024 for one year.

The role is part time for 22.5 hours per week.

We are based in the multicultural southwest within easy reach of the countryside, city, and sea and access to air and train links.

You will be joining a motivated, supportive, and friendly team based in Bristol and provide operational leadership for the podiatry team alongside our other operational leads within Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire (BNSSG).

Main duties of the job

Your role will have a particular focus on operationally managing apprentices and students, ensuring efficient service delivery. You will also be supporting the BNSSG clinical and operational lead (CLOP) in monitoring the service against key performance indicators, evaluating clinical effectiveness, capacity and demand modelling, and improving service user outcomes and satisfaction.

You will provide specialist skills in the high-risk foot to enable assessment, treatment, and management of a varied and complex high risk clinical and domiciliary caseload.

You will participate in the diabetes multidisciplinary foot clinics within secondary care working together with the diabetes and vascular pathway leads providing clinical excellence and resilience to this service.

You will work collaboratively with the clinical pathway leads within the service to provide specialist clinical advice and guidance to internal and external stakeholders and support the provision of education and development for clinicians across the BNSSG system to improve patient outcomes and patient experience.

You will work closely with the Podiatry CLOP and podiatry leads to support the development and delivery of quality training, education, competency, supervision, and clinical governance frameworks within the service.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree in Podiatric Medicine.
  • Certificate in Local Anaesthesia.
  • Current driving license.
  • Post-graduate training at Masters Level or equivalent in diabetes footcare/vascular/wound care/high risk foot/minor surgery.
  • HCPC Registration.

Desirable

  • Member of the College of Podiatry.
  • Can demonstrate working at a Masters Level / Level 7 e.g. Masters Modules.
  • Non-medical independent prescribing.
  • Completion of relevant leadership and/or management training course.
  • Member of relevant specialist interest group.

  • Specialised clinical skills and theoretical knowledge within full range of podiatry practice.
  • Experience of teaching, supervising, and mentoring a broad range of clinicians.
  • Experience dealing with complaints and clinical incidents.

Desirable

  • Experience of producing of 72-hour reports and root cause analysis
  • Experience of facilitating change.
  • Experience of representing podiatry services in meetings, deputising for Podiatry service senior leadership.
  • Good knowledge of the research process and the ability to support departmental research activity.
  • Evidence of operational service management. E.g., capacity and demand management, diary management, waiting list management, staff leave etc.
