Job summary
This
is a fantastic developmental opportunity for a Clinician wanting to
specialise in urgent and emergency care!
This B6 post comes with a two-year (minimum)
training and development package where you will be fully supported to study at
M level gaining qualifications in non-medical prescribing and advanced clinical
practice and diagnostic skills.
You
will also get the opportunity to gain a wealth of urgent care experience and
further your knowledge of the wider urgent care system. From remote clinical assessment
to face to face autonomous practice in a clinical setting, your developmental
pathway will be individually designed to meet your needs and that of Sironas
place based urgent care services.
You will be mentored to become an autonomous
B7 Urgent Care Practitioner on successful completion of all post-graduate
modules and on demonstrating clinical competence in all areas of urgent care.
Main duties of the job
Main duties include providing autonomous
evidenced based care, under supervision, delivering advice and treatment to
adults and children attending with minor injuries, some illnesses and a wide
range of complex / urgent undifferentiated conditions while being supported
by the senior team.
To
initiate the onward referral of patients and be able to recognise and manage
patient pathways for patients who may require further intervention or
specialist referral to inpatient, outpatient or community-based teams
To study at M level and successfully complete a
programme of education over a minimum period of 2 years.

- Relevant experience of urgent and or emergency care services
- Autonomous but supported practice within a health care environment - history taking, examination skills, diagnostic reasoning and implementation of patient centred management
- Clinical examination skills e.g., neurological, abdominal, respiratory, ear nose and throat, musculoskeletal (UWE PACR completion desirable)
- Demonstrate ability to work with complex clients and situations, showing ability to problem solve.
- Familiarity of working with Patient Group Directives (PGDs) and/or medicines protocols
- Basic life support experience for adults and paediatrics
- High level verbal and written communication.
- Ability to use IT equipment and willing to undertake further training as required.
- Organisational skills, ability to prioritise
- Able to work effectively with other agencies and professionals.
- Demonstrate ability to use own initiative and work within clear framework of responsibility

- Advanced wound care management. suturing (desirable)
- Recording and basic interpretation of 12 lead ECG
