Job summary
The School aged Immunisation Team works in Schools and community settings across Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset.(BNSSG)
The Team will be involved in the promotion, planning and high quality, safe and efficient delivery of the School aged immunisation programme to all eligible children and young people within Schools and Community settings across Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset, as directed by NHS England.
The team aims to improve the uptake of a large scale immunisation programme within Education and Community settings contributing towards the public health agenda by improving health outcomes for children and young people.
The post holder will be responsible for leading and managing skill mixed teams and ensuring that the service delivery is safe, effective, caring, responsive and well led.
Main duties of the job
Support the Head of Specialist Services for Children in ensuring that the outcomes of the current service specification are delivered in accordance with the contract within own area of responsibility.
Directly manage the School Aged Immunisation Team and associated resources, and agree with them performance objectives to reflect both local and national strategies and priorities. Ensure they have access to regular management and professional supervision, appraisal and staff development.
Strengthen links between acute, primary care, community services, education and social care particularly in areas of uptake and incorporating service user choice.
Lead on the planning and delivery of a high quality and efficient School Immunisation programme by meeting the needs of all children and young people groups including: mainstream and special schools, home educated children across Bristol and South Gloucestershire.
Support improving the uptake rates and safe delivery of a large scale immunisation programme within educational and community setting contributing to the public health agenda by improving outcomes for children and young people, in line with the key performance indicators as identified in the service specification.
Support the Head of Specialist Services for Children by participating in quality assurance programmes to ensure that CQC and OFSTED standards are met.

- Comprehensive post qualification experience within own professional sphere of practice and across several related disciplines relevant to public health.
- Extensive advanced clinical experience and leadership experience.
- A sound knowledge of both local and national policies relating to vaccination programmes for children and young people
- In-depth knowledge of working in Community Immunisation programmes, and experience of working at a strategic level.
- Problem solving skills within complex environment with competing demands.
- Demonstrate people management skills including experience of managing change.
- Ability to stimulate innovation and creative thinking within service improvement taking into consideration relevant business implications.
- Knowledge of safeguarding children and adults policies and procedures.
- Excellent levels of IT literacy including skills required for audit, reporting and presentation.
