Job summary

1 x 0.50 WTE (18.75 hours per week) Maternity leave cover for 9 months.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for two part time Community Nursery Nurses to join the North Bristol Public Health Nursing locality. John Milton Health Visiting team is a friendly, supportive and dynamic team working in the heart of a vibrant community in Bristol.

Sirona Public Health Nursing service is currently undergoing an exciting transformation to embed the i-THRIVE Framework. This facilitates a preventative/early intervention approach to service provision which empowers children, young people and their families to be actively involved in decisions about the support they receive.

You will work within a Health Visiting Team as part of a skill mix, in partnership with children, young people and families to improve health and reduce health inequalities.

As part of the delivery of the Healthy Child Programme you will offer packages of care to the work identified by the Health Visitor and the family.

You will promote a holistic and sensitive approach to supporting parents with their childrens social, emotional and developmental needs. You will work in a combination of clients homes, childrens centres, and other community settings.

Main duties of the job

This role is currently being reviewed to ensure consistency across BNSSG Childrens Services. Some duties may be subject to future change.

Undertaking a range of duties including group sessions and one to one sessions for a range of issues including health and developmental reviews. Care packages supporting behaviour, development and social and emotional development of the baby and young infant.

Supporting Health Visitors to facilitate drop in Baby Hubs in a community setting.

Using initiative, prioritising and organising own workload within guidelines as agreed by the team.

Completing referrals for children in direct liaison with the Health Visitor.

Working flexibly in helping and supporting other Health Visiting teams across Bristol, providing cover when required and at the discretion of the Clinical Lead.

Responding to client enquiries either, face-to-face or via the telephone using empathy and professional judgement.

Contributing to the orientation/training programme of new colleagues including pre and post nursing registration students as appropriate.
