Sirona care & health are seeking a dynamic and
experienced operational Band 7 podiatrist with a passion for leadership and treating
the high-risk foot to join our team.
We are based in the multicultural southwest within easy reach
of the countryside, city, and sea and access to national and international air
and train links.
You
will be joining a motivated, supportive, and friendly team based in Bristol.
The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic and the ability to work under
pressure as an individual and as part of the wider team across the Bristol,
North Somerset, and South Gloucestershire (BNSSG) area.

Main duties of the job
You will provide operational leadership for the podiatry team within Bristol working closely with your equivalents in North Somerset and South Gloucestershire ensuring efficient service delivery. This includes supporting the BNSSG clinical and operational lead for podiatry (CLOP) in monitoring the service against key performance indicators, evaluating clinical effectiveness, capacity and demand modelling, and improving service user outcomes and satisfaction.
You will also provide specialist skills in the high-risk
foot to enable assessment, treatment, and management of a varied and complex
high risk clinical and domiciliary caseload.
You will participate in the
diabetes multidisciplinary foot clinics within secondary care working together
with the diabetes and vascular pathway leads providing clinical excellence and
resilience to this service.
You will work collaboratively with the clinical pathway
leads within the service to provide specialist clinical advice and guidance to
internal and external stakeholders and support the provision of education and
development for clinicians across the BNSSG system to improve patient outcomes and patient experience.
You will work closely
with the Podiatry CLOP and the other podiatry leads to support the development
and delivery of quality training, education, competency, supervision, and
clinical governance frameworks within the service.

Manages

Assists
with scheduling of staff within the locality, alongside appropriate

Podiatry CLOP in actioning staffing changes (recruitment, leavers, and

Supports
the Podiatry CLOP in investigating and resolving operational concerns,
complaints and adverse events; including 72-hour reports and RCAs when

Podiatry Pathway leads in delivering clinical leadership to junior members of
the Podiatry team, including delivery of in-service training, clinical
mentorship, caseload management support and performance reviews.
Provides
guidance and advice within the Podiatry team, and to other healthcare
professionals, as appropriate,

the delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate student placements.
Acts
as a positive role model/leader, offering specialist education, advice and
treatment for patients.
Draws
from specialist clinical knowledge and uses high level differential diagnostic
skills and pattern recognition to plan and execute highly skilled assessment to
further inform shared decision making
and care plans in complex patients, frequently with multi pathology patients
and complex physical and emotional needs where adaption of routine assessment
is required.
Assess,
diagnose, triage, and treat patients and take responsibility for managing own,
varied caseload.
Manage
medicines including prescribing and administering medication and appliances for
patients, within scope of practice and speciality.
Recognise
potentially sinister signs and symptoms and contra-indications to treatment
from the assessment and manages these appropriately. This may involve referring on for further
investigations via urgent and emergency pathways
Liaise
with, and appropriately refer to secondary care outpatient services, such as
diabetes foot teams, vascular, orthopaedics for further investigations.
Work
collaboratively with Sirona Integrated Network Teams, Wound Care Service,
Diabetes and Nutrition Service and Secondary Care services to ensure holistic
care plans for the complex high-risk caseload.
Work
as part of a multi-disciplinary diabetic foot team, when required, responsible
for the assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, implementation, and
evaluation of all diabetic foot referrals to North Bristol Trust and University

- Registered Podiatrist with Health and Care Professions Council
- Degree/ Diploma in Podiatric Medicine
- Certificate of local anaesthesia
- Post-graduate training at Masters Level or equivalent in diabetes foot care, vascular, wound car,high risk foot or minor surgery
- Current Driving licence
Desirable
- Non- medical independent prescriber or willingness to undertake qualification
- Member of the College of Podiatry
- Can demonstrate working at a Masters level / Level 7 e.g. Masters modules.
- Completion of relevant leadership and/or management training course.
