Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a Band 4 Community Nursery Nurse to work in the Community as part of a Surrey-wide project to improve access to health for children and families who experience homelessness, including those living in emergency accommodation, refugees and asylum- seekers and families who experience marginalisation and health inequalities including the Gypsy, Romany and Traveller (GRT) communities across Surrey.

The service has been developed over the past 5 years and has received several awards and has developed a number of successful projects, such as Community Kitchens for asylum-seeking families and an online Health group for GRT women.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicants will be working as part of the Children and Family Health Inclusion Health Team, delivering the Healthy Child Program. Community experience is desirable but not essential if the candidate has the requisite transferable skills. Previous experience working with disadvantaged client groups would be advantageous but training and support will be offered. This exciting initiative involves targeted, assertive outreach to communities experiencing multiple barriers to healthcare and aims to reduce both health inequalities and poor health outcomes.
