Job summary

First Community Health and Care, a staff owned social enterprise providing CQC Good frontline NHS services in East Surrey, is looking for innovative Occupational Therapists with experience in Paediatrics to join our dynamic and supportive team.

This role is suited for an experienced band 6 occupational therapist.

You will deliver care to children aged 0-19 with a range of conditions including Cerebral Palsy, Autistic Spectrum Disorders and learning difficulties.

Main duties of the job

Working in the community means you will see children within a variety of settings, including nurseries, schools, homes and our newly established childrens centre, where you will carry out essential duties within the occupational therapy process, including:

Supporting children with higher levels or needs or complex backgrounds through either Health or SEN pathways

Meeting with parents to address needs pre-referral

Conducting standardized and non-standardized assessments for children and young persons, from early years to post 16

Assessment, recommendation and provision of equipment for moderate to complex seating systems

Working in partnership with mainstream school settings to provide staff consultation and training

Individual therapy sessions at home and clinic to support self-care, routine and independent living skills

Direct therapy interventions in the education environment to support engagement in school based occupations

Being an active participate in the Occupational Therapy Helpline for Surrey by providing ad hoc telephone advice for professional and families requiring OT support

There will also be opportunities to develop your supervision and innovation skills by taking on small development projects, training opportunities and working with students.

Due to the nature of the role, a valid UK full driving licence and car is essential.

  • B.S.C Hons or recognised degree equivalent qualification in Occupational therapy.

  • Registered Member of professional body

Experience

  • 2 years Post grad experience in OT
  • Previous therapy experience in the relevant clinical areas related to the post
  • Documented evidence of CPD
  • Experience of working in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to deliver training

  • Evidence of successful completion of specialist short courses relating to the post.
  • Membership of relevant Special Interest Groups/Clinical excellence networks
  • Training relating to the line management and supervision of assistants and other therapists.
