INTERNAL Student Nurse Associate (FTC)

Job summary

The successful applicant will work towards the post of Nursing Associate through successful completion of the Nursing Associate training two year programme.This includes the attainment of a level 5 Foundation degree equivalent qualification.

You will develop and maintain knowledge, skill and competencies related to the role of Nursing Associate within the service and through completion of the Nursing Associate training programme, which includes working in care settings and delivery of person-centred care.

You will be required to work as part of an MDT on Caterham Dene ward which is a 28 bedded rehabilitation ward.

You will have access to a variety of specialists to aid your learning and growth.

Your role will be a mixture of practical and theory supported by your university.

Main duties of the job

This role will enable you to develop understanding of all elements of the nursing process and be able to assist the registered nurse in the on-going assessment, planning, management and evaluation of care.

  • You will support individuals with all aspects of care including daily living, providing person-centred care and promoting health and independence through awareness raising and care navigation to other professionals as appropriate.
  • You will be required to perform clinical diagnostic tests such as taking and recording vital signs, sending samples, obtaining blood samples, completing ECGs and performing wound dressings.
  • You will work with the wider nursing team and therapy team to empower patients and reduce risk were ever possible on the ward.
  • You will be expected to take part in information gathering for auditing purposes and be involved in action planning the results.
  • You will be expected to adhere to legislation, policies, procedures in place across the ward and organisation.
