Job responsibilities

Purpose

CSH Surrey are inviting applications for Sponsorship leading to a PG Dip/BSc (Hons)/MSc NMC Specialist Practice Award (District Nursing)

This is a one-year full time programme. It involves taught components at The University of Surrey (Guildford) and a clinical placement within CSH Surrey.

Applicants will have completed a bachelors degree or have recently studied at FEHQ level 6 and completed a mentorship / supervisor module at level 6. Students will need to be entered on parts one or two of the NMC professional register and will normally have at least two years post-registration experience.

The student will be paid at Band 6 per agenda for change rates for 2023/2224 £35,392 plus 5% high-cost area supplement.

A valid licence to drive in the UK with access to a vehicle for business use is essential for this role.

All staff have a responsibility for safeguarding children and vulnerable adults and promoting their welfare and for ensuring they are aware of the specific duties relating to their role. This role will require an Enhanced DBS check.

Standards of Business Conduct

The post holder will be required to comply with the organisations Standing Orders and Standing Financial Instructions and, at all times, deal honestly with the organisation, with colleagues and all those who have dealing with the organisation including patients, relatives and suppliers.

To ensure confidentiality in all matters relating to clients, to staff personnel issues and to information obtained during the course of employment. To not release such information to anyone else other than acting in an official capacity.

Safeguarding of children and child protection and vulnerable adults

Health and Safety

1. To follow and promote safe working practices and to comply at all times with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, and Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992, and CSH policies and procedures
2. To assist in the regular monitoring and maintenance of equipment in accordance with health and Safety regulations.
3. To act immediately on safety notices, hazard warning notices and any other notifications in relation to equipment used/prescribed by the Occupational Therapy Service.
4. To take reasonable care of the health and safety of yourself and other persons who may be affected by your acts or omissions at work and to co-operate with CSH to ensure that statutory and departmental regulations are adhered to.
5. To report all clinical and non-clinical incidents or near misses promptly and when required to co-operate with any investigations undertaken.

2. All staff have a responsibility for security and the proper care of property. In accordance with standing financial instructions all managers have a particular responsibility for security and loss prevention arrangements in their areas of responsibility.

Continuous Improvement

The organisation has adopted a strategy for continuous Improvement and all members of staff employed by the organisation are expected to play an active role in development and improving services to the benefit of service users. In-service training and development programmes are provided including the NVQ process.

Clinical supervision

Clinical Supervision is an ongoing process between clinical supervisor and clinical supervisee which aims to develop and sustain a high level of quality patient care by reflecting on clinical practice and provides encouragement for personal and professional growth. All Clinicians are expected to undertake clinical supervision in line with CSH Surrey policy

Registered Health Professional

All co-owners who are members of a professional body must comply with standards of professional practice/conduct. It is the post holders responsibility to ensure they are both familiar with and adhere to these requirements and maintain their professional membership to the relevant body.

Qualifications

Essential

• Current 1st level registration (Registered Nurse)
• Degree in relevant health care (or working towards)
• Evidence of Continued Professional Development post registration
• Relevant specialist courses
• Clinical Supervisor

Desirable

• Educated to Degree / Master level
• Physical Assessment Module
• Nurse prescriber (DN V100)

Experience

Essential

• Minimum of 2 years post reg experience
• Broad range of clinical skills relevant to District Nursing
• Ability to Undertake full assessments of patients, including those with multiple pathology and complex health and social needs
• Supervising / teaching / assessing experience
• Evidence of professional development
• Demonstrable evidence of service improvement / implementing local change
• Good knowledge of health and safety / risk management
• Clinical audit and why this is important
• Understanding of health care policy and how these impacts on District Nursing
• Computer literate and able to use Word, emails etc

Desirable

• Experience of staff management and appraisal
• Willingness to develop an area of specialist nursing
• Specialist knowledge of the role
