An exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen for an experienced physiotherapist to join our MD Respiratory Care Team in the North Surrey Locality.

The RCT offers Pulmonary Rehabilitation throughout the whole of NW Surrey within the community setting and in patients homes. The Band 6 Respiratory Physiotherapist supports the Pulmonary Rehabilitation Lead within the locality area to plan, co-ordinate, deliver and evaluate a high quality, evidence based Pulmonary Rehabilitation and respiratory physiotherapy service for respiratory patients in North West Surrey. Currently the team are working towards NACAP Pulmonary Rehabilitation National Accreditation as well as piloting the use of virtual reality headsets for home-based exercise delivery. The Physiotherapists are an integral part of the multidisciplinary Respiratory Care Team whose role is to support individuals with chronic respiratory conditions offering, as well as Pulmonary Rehabilitation, a wide range of services including an admission avoidance and post discharge service, community clinics, home visits, Ambulatory oxygen, and a Home NIV service.

To succeed in this post you will need experience of managing patients with chronic respiratory disease. The successful candidate must have good communication and organisational skills with a flexible approach to meet the ever-changing needs of the service. You will have experience of working autonomously and within a multidisciplinary team.

Main duties of the job

Golden Hello eligible! A Golden Hello payment of £2000 (£1000 upon commencement and a further £1000 following successful completion of a six month probation period) will be made, provided that the eligibility terms are met.

Job responsibilities

1. The Band 6 Respiratory Physiotherapist supports the Pulmonary Rehabilitation Lead within the locality area to plan, co-ordinate, deliver and evaluate a high quality, evidence based Pulmonary Rehabilitation and respiratory physiotherapy service for respiratory patients in North West Surrey.

4. To undertake comprehensive physiotherapeutic assessments and to plan and execute treatment of patients with chronic respiratory problems in outpatient, clinic and community settings. These patients may have complex needs, both physical and emotional, including co-morbidities and may be at any stage of the disease process, including end stage.

5. To take an active role in the supervision and teaching of junior physiotherapists, nurses and other members of the multidisciplinary team across the Trust.

6. To be responsible as an autonomous practitioner to undertake a specialist clinical caseload, to include both group and individual assessment, rehabilitation, and treatment.

7. To work with and be an active member of the Respiratory Care Team to support as needed community clinics, home visits, Ambulatory Oxygen prescription, admission avoidance and post discharge work.

8. To participate actively in evaluating the quality and effectiveness of care delivered and make recommendations for changes.

9. To undertake evidence-based projects, including recommendations for change in practice and to lead where appropriate in departmental evaluation/research.
