Job summary

The Director of Rehab and System flow is an exciting new role working across one of the most mature place-based partnerships in the country, the North West Surrey Alliance that formally unites 11 healthcare, local government, and voluntary sector organisations impacting the health, well-being, and happiness of our communities in Woking, Runnymede, Elmbridge, and Spelthorne.

Early this year we embarked on a significant transformational programme to deliver integrated services through five integrated business units; integrated neighbourhood teams, complex care, urgent care, end of life, and rehab and system flow. The successful candidate will lead the newly created rehab and system flow business unit, which includes all services that support flow and discharge from the acute hospital, alongside our general, stroke and neurological rehabilitation services. Working alongside the other directors. The director will have the opportunity to shape the future of our rehabilitation services.

Main duties of the job

The Director will be responsible for strategic leadership of staff within the System Flow Business Unit with primary responsibility for successful relationships with key stakeholders with a united vision for improving the health and wellbeing of the local population.

The NWS Alliance Director of Rehabilitation and System Flow will encompass executive-level accountability for the overall strategic direction, performance, and success of all services within the Rehabilitation and System Flow business unit. This individual will function as the line manager for senior leaders within the Business Unit, a domain that includes those employed within other Alliance partners. The Directors consistent dedication to upholding the NHS Constitutional standards will remain unwavering.

Integral to the Directors responsibilities will be the establishment and nurturing of robust professional relationships with a wide spectrum of both internal and external stakeholders. They will adeptly navigate intricate, complex, and sometimes contentious matters that require discretion and influence.

Demonstrating a judicious approach, the Director will maintain overarching fiscal oversight and responsibility for budgets across all services within the Business Unit. This accountability extends to encompass budgetary components residing within the financial structures of Alliance partners, with adherence to financial instructions.

Further adding to the Directors responsibilities is the commitment to their personal and professional growth. Their role as a representation of inclusive leadership, marked by a demeanour of compassion, will provide clarity to the path ahead.
