Job summary

We have a wonderful opportunity available to join our team at Liverpool Zoes Place. Liverpool Zoes Place (formally Zoes Place Baby Hospice) recently faced closure, however following a highly successful campaign the hospice is looking forward to an exciting future continuing to provide respite care, and palliative care to children0-5 years of age with a life limiting or life threatening condition. We are a now a new independent charity based solely in Liverpool and in 2026 will move to a new purpose build hospice location in West Derby Village Liverpool.

We provide complete holistic care for children and their families.As a nurse in Zoes Place you have the time to care. We provide one-to-one care for all children in a relaxed, fun, home from home environment. We are working towards providing end of life care and provide a bereavement service. Main duties of the job

Provide individualised holistic care to children with life limiting and life threatening conditions.

Assess, plan, implement and evaluate care, working in partnership with the family at all times.

Safe transcribing, administration, storage and control of all medication.

Exemplary record keeping timely, in accordance with the NMC Professional Code and the hospice policy and procedures.

Safe storage of all data and records in accordance with policy, procedure and national guidelines

Adhere to all Liverpool Zoe's Place policies and procedures

Adopt the role of link worker/ primary nurse

Competently take charge of the shift, safeguarding all children and staff.

To communicate effectively with all members of the team and wider MDT.

Attend clinical supervision.

Risk assessments.

Understanding of the safeguarding policy and safeguard children, parents/carers and staff.

Participate in the induction of new staff to LZP.

Mentor student nurses during their placement at LZP.

Play an active part in the Clinical Governance framework within the hospice.

Support the family at the time of death, respecting an individuals beliefs, community, culture and religion.

Nurse on call rota within the hospice.

Constantly improve and develop practice.

Advocate for the child and family.

Clinical

Work within the principles of the NMC Code, ensure annual registration with the NMC and adhere to their revalidation requirements 3 yearly.

Be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care needs of an allocated group of children and regularly liaise with their family/carer to ensure these needs are updated.

Establish and maintain effective communication with children, families and professionals across health and social care services.

Ensure that any new referrals are processed quickly and efficiently and that information is gathered from the appropriate services involved in the childs care.

Support transition of children and families to a new facility once they have outgrown the service.

Adopt a research-based approach to specialist palliative care as well as general nursing care.

Develop and enhance nursing skills as required for the role; this will be led by the dependency and needs of the children accessing the hospice service.

Training, education and standards

Share knowledge and expertise with others via informal and formal teaching and participate in the training and education of others, including new members of staff, care assistants and students.

Take on a link role in an area of interest and act as a resource in this area for colleagues.

Be responsible for your own professional development in accordance with NMC guidelines.

Participate in the hospice appraisal system and access training opportunities to improve your own knowledge and skills.
