Job summary

This is a training role within the Children and Young People Improving Access to Psychological Therapies programme (CYP IAPT; low intensity arm). The post-holder will work within a Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service as part of a multi-disciplinary team delivering, under supervision, high-quality, brief outcome focused evidence-based interventions for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate emotional distress impacting upon their mental health. The training and service experience will equip the post holder with the necessary knowledge, attitude and skills to operate effectively in an inclusive, value driven service. The post holder will attend all university based taught and self-study days required by the education provider, as specified within the agreed national curriculum and work in the service for the remaining days of the week using their newly developed skills. To promote at all times a positive image of people with mental health conditions and learning disabilities.

3.1.10 Adhere to an agreed job plan relating to the overall number of children and young people contacts offered, and sessions carried out per week in order to minimise waiting times and ensure treatment delivery remains accessible and convenient.

3.1.11 Use Routine Outcome Measures to inform assessment and intervention, and to facilitate clinical reporting, monitoring and improvement activities.

3.2 Successfully communicating with others, establish and maintain great working relationships and gain co-operation

3.2.1 Educate and involve family members and others in treatment as necessary.

3.2.2 Attend multi-disciplinary meetings relating to referrals or children and young people accessing our services, where appropriate, and using a collaborative approach to supporting a young person.

3.2.3 Assess and integrate issues relating to transitions, education, and training/employment into the overall therapeutic process. Engage and liaise with other agencies as required to best support a young person with their current difficulties.

3.2.4 Work in collaboration with children, young people and communities to enhance and widen access.

3.2.5 Responsible for maintaining appropriate boundaries with children and young people.

3.2.6 Recognises difference and responds sensitively, to ensure that people with diverse needs feel included and their individual communication needs are met. Uses inclusive language that is collaboratively agreed within the therapeutic/ working relationship. 3.2.7

3.3 Effectively analysing information, identify problems, develop solutions and make recommendations/decisions
