Job summary

We are seeking to recruit an individual with purpose, passion and integrity to lead our Health team. In this role, you will use your skills, knowledge and experiences to help ensure movement and physical activity is embedded into health and care systems. You will work with partners across the system, in the leadership of GM Moving; our whole system approach across the city-region to reduce inactivity and grow a movement for active lives for everyone, with a specific intent to reduce physical activity and health inequalities.

Main duties of the job

The person appointed will be driven to make a difference to the lives of people and the places in which they move. You will play an important role in leading the Active Partnership, GM Moving, to deliver its organisational business plan as it contributes to GM Moving in Action.

You will provide executive leadership, direction and management to the health team as they provide leadership, support and connection to support the mission of Active Lives for All in support of, and working closely with, the NHS Greater Manchester Integrated Care Partnership.

Greater Manchester Moving is the Greater Manchester charity committed to changing lives by inspiring a healthier future in Greater Manchester through moving more, physical activity and sport. We play a strategic leadership role in support of the Greater Manchester wide movement, for movement.

We have permanent office space in the House of Sport in Manchester, and regular team and co-working days in venues across Greater Manchester, blended with homeworking.

As Executive Lead for Health you will be responsible for embedding physical activity into health and care systems. You will work with partners across the system, in the leadership of GM Moving; our whole system approach across the city-region to reduce inactivity and grow a movement for active lives for everyone, with a specific intent to reduce physical activity and health inequalities. Provide excellent strategic leadership and systems to support Health integration to the requirements of NHS Greater Manchester Integrated Care Partnership.

Provide executive leadership and management that creates the conditions for a high performing team,

Provide excellent line management support to the Strategic Lead Health Inequalities and the Strategic Lead Marketing and Communications Health

Be accountable for and take responsibility for the overall health budget.

Lead alongside local, regional and GM leaders, developing strong relationships of trust and accountability in the delivery of health integration.

Lead the development of narrative and thinking in the health integration approach, sharing the journey, progress and learning and reimagining what evaluation looks like in complex systems.

Provide leadership and connection to the GM Moving Board in relation to the areas of executive leadership.

Support cross-organisational leadership and communication by working closely with the Exec team and identify and connect work areas and opportunities.

Serve as a member of the companys Executive Team, contributing to effective leadership and management of the organisation.

Work alongside the GM Moving Board of Trustees to help set the strategic direction of the organisation and uphold its vision, values and business aims.

  • Be experienced in leadership in complex systems, bringing experience of public sector health reform and transformation.
  • Be experienced in strategic, programme and project management, and a proven personal track record of managing cross system programmes through to delivery.
  • Be a confident, authentic and courageous leader who can inspire others and bring people together as catalysts for change.
  • Be experienced in leading, managing and developing high performing teams.
  • Be experienced inworking at a strategic level with executive teams, investors and stakeholders, building mutually beneficial relationships based on trust.
  • Be experienced in developing and implementing policy in practice, guided by values, principles and agreed behaviours.
  • Be skilled in financial management; preparing, managing, monitoring and reporting on complex budgets.
  • Be skilled in complex decision-making; collectively and collaboratively with executive leaders and teams, and independently, seeking support where appropriate.
  • Be a confident public speaker and facilitator.
  • Be able to reflect, learn, evaluate and translate learning into action. Ability to design, review and adjust programme plans to reflect the dynamic nature of a transformation programme.
