Job responsibilities

Main responsibilities:

Clinical

Support PWPs in clinical decision making through Clinical Caseload Management Supervision (CCMS) to identify appropriate treatment options for the presenting symptoms of their patients.

If a decision on treatment cannot be decided in CCMS (e.g. due to complexity) discuss this with a Lead PWP or the wider SPWP team to agree the best course of action.

Support the Telephone and Referral Centre (TARC) on a weekly rota basis. This includes calling patients that have identified risk concerns at referral to risk assess and follow suitable next steps.

Screen referrals and make decisions on suitability for our service following NHSTT protocols.

Provide risk supervision / debriefs to PWPs when needed.

Liaise with external services to coordinate patient care through multidisciplinary meetings, emails, or phone calls.

Work on a rota basis to provide evening duty cover for the clinical team and provide additional

cover for sickness/annual leave

Maintain a reduced clinical caseload alongside managerial responsibilities.

Work closely with external services and colleagues in Step 3 (High intensity), ensuring appropriate arrangements are in place in line with the stepped care approach and no wrong door policy.

Complete all requirements relating to data collection and recording within the service.

Recording all clinical and nonclinical activity on our patient management system in a timely manner.

Complete Patient Experience Questionnaires (PEfaceQs) with patients.

Management

Provide line management, clinical skills groups, and clinical supervision for PWPs as needed.

Support supervisees to participate in ongoing professional and personal development.

Identify training needs and opportunities for continuing professional development (CPD).

Shortlisting and interviewing Assistant, Trainee, and Qualified PWPs candidates.

Deliver training and induction sessions as needed.

Confirm PWPs competence to practice by assessing their work through live supervision, auditing notes, and case management supervision.

Ensure that line managed staff maintain appropriate IAPTus clinical records in keeping with service operational policy and or that these are in line with best clinical practice.

Professional

Ensure information governance processes are followed and respond to incidents in a timely manner, in compliance with GDPR protocols.

Prepare for and attend clinical/managerial supervision on a regular basis.

Attend all supervisions, wellbeing meetings, and service meetings.

Participate in individual annual appraisal review and respond to agreed service objectives.

Attend relevant conferences / workshops/ training.

Keep up to date all records in relation to Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and ensure personal development plan maintains up to date specialist knowledge of latest theoretical and service delivery models/developments.

General:

Knowledge and skills

Essential

• Confident in ability to deliver assessments (including risk), low intensity treatments, and develop a therapeutic alliance over the phone, video call, and face-to-face.
• Thorough understanding of the stepped care model and NHS Talking Therapies
• Proven ability to communication clearly with patients, colleagues, and external agencies, especially in complex or sensitive situations.
• Ability to be resilient working in a busy service and manage own personal stress
• Ability to be self-reflective and use supervision/feedback to develop own practice
• Ability to manage own diary, caseload and related admin
• Ability to be self-reflective and use supervision, training and performance review to enhance professional development, skills and knowledge.

Desirable

• Knowledge of the no wrong door approach
• Ability to adapt to changes in service and support the team overcome challenges
• Awareness of when it is appropriate to seek additional support/advice.
• Ability to contribute to best practice and ongoing development of the service

Qualifications

Essential

• Qualified as a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner

Desirable

• Supervisory training

Experience

Essential

• >1 year of experience working as a Qualified Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner

Desirable

• Supervising a team and support staff members ongoing development
• Holding leadership/senior management responsibility
• Using computerised patient management databases (specifically IAPTus)
• Working in partnership with multiple organisations to deliver co-ordinated care plans
• Experience delivering training
