Job summary

This role would be a great opportunity for Qualified Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners who are looking to progress their career within the Low Intensity NHS Talking Therapies service.

The ideal candidate will be committed to Step 2 work, highly motivated, flexible, and a strong team player. To be successful in your application you will will need a Postgraduate or Degree Certificate in Psychological Therapies and demonstrate sound knowledge and practice at Step 2, as well as strong clinical decision making.

Main duties of the job

This role involves managing a group of Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners to ensure the quality of their work is maintained through facilitating both clinical skills and line management supervision. Our Senior Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners also continue to work with Step 2 patients by conducting assessments and delivering treatment sessions.

You will also be involved with interviewing candidates for Assistant, Trainee, and Qualified PWP roles, supporting clinical staff through regular supervision and debriefs, and coaching clinical staff to develop their practice and careers within the NHS Talking Therapies service.

Essential

  • Ability to work as a Qualified PWP, undertaking client assessments (including risk assessments) as well as developing good therapeutic relationships through telephone and face-to-face guided self-help, computerised CBT and other Step 2 interventions.
  • Proven ability to communicate clearly in difficult and complex situations with colleagues, external agencies and service users.
  • A thorough understanding of the Improving Access to Psychological Therapies Programme (IAPT) and the concept of stepped care and the ability to contribute to the development of best practice.
  • Intermediate IT skills in Microsoft Office packages and the ability to use computer based information system to record all client assessments and activity, including IAPTUS or PC MIS.
  • Ability to be self-reflective and use supervision, training and performance review to enhance professional development, skills and knowledge.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage own personal stress.
  • Ability to work as an effective team member and form good working relationships.
  • Ability to manage own time and case load and undertake administration related to this, and to demonstrate flexibility when situations change.
  • Ability to provide clinical supervision and demonstrate clear decision making in line with the IAPT model and NICE guidelines. Awareness of when it is appropriate to seek additional support/advice.
  • Ability to manage staff in line with organisational policies and practices.
  • Ability to develop staff.

  • Strong presentation skills.

Qualifications

Essential

  • University Certificate in Clinical Practice in IAPT Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner training at Postgraduate or Degree level.

Desirable

  • Relevant clinical supervisory training.
