Job summary

The job purpose is to provide data analysis, insight and reporting for:

  • Clinical audit, service evaluation/quality improvement and research within EHAATs Centre for Excellence.
  • Informing operational decision-making within the service.
  • Charity team requirements, as necessary

Main duties of the job

  • To perform analysis of HEMSbase data to support the Research & Scholarship Lead, Academic Lead for Patient Experience & Outcomes, Academic Lead for Head Injury and Cardiac Arrest Lead with internal audits and assessment of key performance indicators for our service.
  • To provide rigorous data analysis to support data-driven improvements in patient care within the service.
  • To lead on coding and reporting for Charity and Clinical dashboards displaying key metrics across our clinical operation.
  • To be responsive to the wider clinical and Centre for Excellence teams needs for data analysis and statistical advice, within the guidance of the Research & Scholarship Lead and others as appropriate.
  • To be responsive to the Operational and Charity teams needs for data analysis, within the guidance of the Research & Scholarship Lead.

  • To ensure up-to-date knowledge regarding developments in national and international networks focused on prehospital data, and communicate this knowledge to the wider team.
  • To work with colleagues in external organisations and networks, including other Helicopter Emergency Medical Services, NHS organisations, Research & Audit networks and Universities, regarding datadriven initiatives and projects.
  • To work with the Research & Scholarship Lead, Academic Lead for Patient Experience & Outcomes, Academic Lead for Head Injury and Cardiac Arrest Lead to produce annual reports on data for each of the Centre for Excellence domains.
  • To help drive continuous improvements in data use and management across audit, service evaluation/quality improvement and research activity within the Centre for Excellence.
  • To prepare data reports and presentations for a variety of audiences, including clinical and charity staff, the Executive Team, Trustees, and patients and their family members.
  • To contribute to the training of other team members in the use of data visualisation software and web-based database applications.
  • To undertake any other tasks requested by the line manager within the scope of the role as required.

  • Degree in a discipline with a substantial data science, data analytics or statistics component.

Desirable

  • MSc in a discipline with a substantial data science, data analytics or statistics component.
  • PhD in a discipline with a substantial data science, data analytics or statistics component.

Experience

Essential

  • Experience using web-based database applications such as REDCap.
  • Skills in advanced statistical analysis.
  • Expertise in data manipulation using Microsoft Excel (VBA would be desirable).
  • Expertise in the use of statistical software packages such as SPSS, R or Stata.
  • Expertise in using database query languages, for example SQL or equivalent, for managing and processing data in relational databases.
  • Ability to present data clearly in oral presentations and written reports for different stakeholders/audiences.
  • Sound knowledge of data protection legislation regarding the collection, processing and storage of data.
  • Understands the importance of using high quality data to underpin improvements in patient care.
  • o work effectively as part of a team as well as independently.
