Job summary
We are looking to increase our
existing team of experienced Clinical Practitioners (Nurses or Paramedics) to
join our dynamic team working on the CAS service on a bank basis. We have
various shifts available
24/7.
The
Clinical Assessment Service (CAS) involves patients receiving a clinical
triage/telephone post non-clinical call handling/algorithmic outcome via
NHS111/111 online or 999. Dispositions include:
- Low acuity ambulance (cat 3 and 4)
- Advised to attend ED outcomes/ETC outcomes.
- Same day Urgent face to face outcomes
- Some same day primary care dispositions.
These cases are digitally transferred to a clinical assessor in the Alliance
(Bardoc, GTD and Mastercall) for an enhanced clinical assessment.
As part of our
highly skilled team, you would play your part in managing urgent primary care
patients across a variety of services. We offer training and professional
development and youll be working with a multidisciplinary team of clinicians
including GPS, Advanced Clinical Practitioners, Nurses & Allied Health
Professionals.
Main duties of the job
- To provide remote clinical assessment via telephone and/or video to deliver a high standard of safe patient care in line with National Quality Requirements.
- To process calls as per Mastercall guidelines and provide a professional, courteous and efficient telephone service consistent with Mastercall standards for telephone triage to patients seeking medical assistance.
- To provide skilled and effective assessment of the patients presenting clinical need, through telephone and/or video consultation, throughout which the clinician is required to be accountable for using professional judgement at all times.
- To triage effectively and identify patients with emergency or urgent care needs requiring escalation, and provide routine care or self-care advice as necessary ensuring that patients have a safe and consistent outcome.
- To use critical thinking and effective communication skills to assess patients holistic needs and establish relevant cultural, social, economic factors in a respectful and non-judgemental manner.
- To identify and appropriately action clinical risks for medical / dental calls / health information in line with protocols.
- Provide appropriate health education and advice, signposting and referring to other relevant services as required.

- Recognised minor illness practitioner qualification (university
- validated and credited course at level 6 or above) OR a significant
- portfolio of robust evidence to demonstrate competency in the
- assessment and management of minor illness in primary care for both
- children and adults.
Desirable
- Nurse / AHP degree Mentor/teaching qualification
- Clinical supervision training
- V300 Non-Medical Prescribing
Experience

- Minimum 5 years post registration experience.
- A broad Minor illness/ailment clinical experience
