Job summary

The NHS Employers National Engagement Service is looking for a senior engagement officer to support the implementation of our work programme, maximising reach and impact for our stakeholders. As a senior engagement officer you will:

  • utilise a range of engagement techniques to enhance the delivery of meetings and events regionally and nationally.
  • support our range of networks by enabling and evaluating high quality engagement activity across all regional meetings and Social Partnership Forums (SPFs).
  • co-ordinate members of the team to forward plan and deliver virtual and in-person events at scale which are designed for our stakeholders to progress key national and regional priorities.
  • identify and collate relevant information and good practice from employers and trade union representatives.
  • interrogate data in our CRM system to input into our evaluation processes and identify other opportunities to enhance our use of CRM

Main duties of the job

In the National Engagement Service (NES) we all have a role which supports the delivery of our annual work programme and the ongoing development of the directorate.

Communications and Engagement

Our Senior Engagement Officers will support the implementation of our NES Communications and Engagement Strategy by:

  • Utilising a range of engagement techniques to enhance the delivery of meetings and events regionally and nationally
  • Utilising a range of communication tools including digital tools for messaging, connecting, sharing resources, and spreading good practice
  • Ensuring that effective and timely communications are delivered to employers and trade union representatives on our latest products and resources.
  • Signposting to relevant information in response to requests from our stakeholders, ensuring excellent customer service.
  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with internal colleagues and external stakeholders.
  • Working closely with colleagues in the Communications team as the link/liaison between the teams.
Delivering our network meetings

Enabling, ensuring and evaluating high quality engagement activity across all regional networks and Social Partnership Forums (SPFs). Our SPFs are where we work in partnership with our Trade Union colleagues.

Working with members of the team, forward plan and deliver virtual and in-person events at scale which are designed for our stakeholders to progress key national and regional priorities. Your role will include attending in-person meetings and having your camera on so you appear on screen for virtual meetings.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Using project co-ordination skills to have oversight of all the networks in your region and provide prompts to the team for planning, delivery and follow up from the network meetings.
  • Designing effective communications to the networks and distributing the agenda
  • Drafting briefs for Director colleagues from NHS Employers who are attending the network, for the Chairs of the Network and for other speakers attending the network
  • Sending resources and action notes (within 3 days of meeting)
  • Working with our central business administrators to ensure that attendance is recorded in our CRM (Client Relationship Management) tool and using this information to inform follow up engagement activity with attendees and non-attendees
  • Following up any actions, requests for information and ensuring that any new members of the networks are notified to the BA to ensure that CRM is up to date
  • Reflecting on feedback and evaluation and discussing learning and opportunities for learning with your colleagues.
Intelligence reporting and data driven insight

  • Capturing and collating relevant information and good practice from employers and trade union representatives.
  • Accurate and timely recording of this information and generating intelligence summaries by identifying themes and trends which provide insight to support policy and product development.
  • Having oversight in your region for our CRM system and working with our BAs to ensure that information is recorded accurately and in a timely way.
  • Using expertise to interrogate data in our CRM system to input into our evaluation processes and identifying other opportunities to enhance our use of CRM.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Experience of successfully using various forms of communication, including digital tools to create engaging and innovative communications with stakeholders and relevant audiences.
  • Ability to develop and maintain credible and effective relationships with stakeholders.
  • Demonstrable project management skills including proactive co-ordination of a range of meeting management and business tasks, ensuring follow up actions are communicated with colleagues and deadlines are met.
  • Experience of supporting the efficient running of meetings with multiple stakeholders and synthesising content into succinct action notes.
  • Ability to deliver presentations and facilitate meetings
  • Ability to collate and summarise information, identifying trends and themes and understanding evaluation techniques and reporting of feedback
  • Proficient IT skills and an excellent knowledge of MS Office packages.
  • Ability to effectively prioritise workload and the ability to meet deadlines

  • Some understanding of NHS workforce and the issues currently affecting the NHS
