Patient Services Administrator
- Hours: 22.5 hours per week
- Location: Peace Hospice, Watford
- Salary: £25,446 per annum (pro rata)

This role will suit someone who
- Has outstanding organisation and administrative skills with high attention to detail.
- Has the ability to multitask and prioritise to meet deadlines to achieve objectives and handle a busy
workload.
- Has exceptional interpersonal skills, with ability to work positively with staff, volunteers and external
organisations alike.
- Has a high level of computer literacy, e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, databases etc.
- Has the ability to professionally and compassionately respond to emotional/distressing telephone
calls.
- Is flexible and enjoys variety around where and what they work on.
- Can quickly build trusting, empathetic and caring relationships with the Clinical Support team,
volunteers, customers, employees and head office teams, not forgetting local traders and the
community.
Main duties of the job
The role of Patient Services Administrator is in place to provide an efficient, comprehensive, and collaborative support service to the Bereavement Listening Talking Therapy department.

At Rennie Grove Peace, we provide palliative and end of life care support within Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire in four stages: Early Support, Living Well, Dying Well and Bereavement Support.
Our patient services are available to adults as well as patients transitioning into adult services (16 to 25 years.)
Bereavement support is offered for all ages to families of patients and those around them.
We are proud to offer care in the place that best suits the individuals needs, whether that is at home, in a care home, in a short stay in our inpatient unit, out in the community, or in our purpose-built Living Well
Centre facilities.
As a hospice care charity, we have offered this support, free of charge, for over 40 years.
Our multidisciplinary team helps people to live well and receive support in the place that best suits their needs, when they need it the most.
We're here to help the whole family cope during the most difficult of times, early in diagnosis, during a patients illness and, if needed, when those around them are dealing with grief and bereavement.

- Acting as a central point of contact, maintaining effective communication and organisational processes at all times.
- Managing and responding to patient related calls in a calm and professional manner.
- Developing, managing and maintaining Bereavement Listening Services databases.
- Assisting with maintaining nursing databases, patient files and producing reports and statistics as required.
- Acting as a Rennie Grove ambassador, actively demonstrating our values and positively promoting the specialist care we provide.
- Acting as a Rennie Grove Peace ambassador within the community.
- Maintain required organisational standards and improve professional competence by attending training courses, study days and conferences as appropriate.
- Attend relevant meetings as appropriate including the regular Patient Services Administration meetings and dedicated patient safety meeting.
- Keep up to date with current legislation and any further professional training, relevant to role.
- Demonstrate ongoing personal and professional development in accordance with annual Individual Progress Review (IPR) system.
Ensure that information (in any form) relating to patients, staff, volunteers, customers, and supporters is always protected and treated confidentially and complies with current data protection laws.
- If handling patient data, you should be aware of the Caldicott principles: -You should be able to justify the purpose(s) of every proposed use or transfer. -Don't use it unless it is absolutely necessary and use the minimum necessary.

- Demonstrable experience of relevant administration responsibilities within an office environment.
- Proven experience of working with databases and other IT systems, including writing, and
- producing reports / statistics.
- Experience of working effectively in a team.
- Ability to build good working relationships.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in written forms.
- Sensitivity and understanding to the needs of your team and customers, many of whom may have
- experienced Rennie Grove Peace services or be bereaved.
