Job summary

As part of the Learning & Organisational Development team, this role will focus on the learning and development of the specialist palliative care staff at Rennie Grove Peace; delivering educational activities and providing developmental support to maintain and promote safe, compassionate, high-quality evidence-based care for those we care for.

Main duties of the job

  • Prepare and lead on delivery of content for sessions within the learning and development programme.
  • Support new starters to feel confident in their new role and to achieve their required competencies.
  • Support the ongoing learning and development needs of staff who are established in role.
  • Support staff undertaking academic study or learning courses.
  • Provide ad-hoc and responsive training where required.
  • Work collaboratively with other service providers to deliver joint training programmes.
  • Be a resource for theory and best practice expectations.
  • Identify and promote education-related income generating opportunities where practicable.
  • Support research in practice.
  • Oversee pre-registration student placements, including supporting the administrator to plan these.
  • Keep up to date with best and innovative practices nationally and internationally and consider how these could be implemented at Rennie Grove Peace.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Full UK driving licence plus access to, and use of, own vehicle which will be used for work purposes.
  • Be a Registered Nurse or Registered Allied Health Care Professional.
  • Degree level education or equivalent in a related discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Current NMC or HCPC registration.
  • Mentorship module or equivalent.

Desirable

  • Advanced level communication skills training.
  • Qualification in palliative care or relevant experience.
  • Recognised teaching qualification.
  • Vocational training assessor qualification.
  • A qualification or course attendance in clinical supervision.

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of participating in clinical supervision.
  • Experience of identifying, developing and delivering clinical training.
  • Experience of mentoring and developing staff / students in the clinical field.
  • Experience of carrying out audit and service evaluation.

Desirable

  • Experience of community care provision.
  • Experience of leading and motivating teams of volunteers.

  • Evidence of continuous personal and professional development.
  • Knowledge of Care Quality Commission requirements and quality needs for care homes and clinical practice within the hospice environment.
  • Excellent presentation skills demonstrating confidence, being articulate and motivational.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
