Job summary

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Healthcare Assistant to join our community team in Oxford to support providing holistic, person centred, end of life care to patients in their own homes.

Main duties of the job

Band 2 Healthcare Assistants provide essential personal care and support to patients nearing the end of life, assisting with hygiene, nutrition, comfort, and mobility while maintaining dignity and respect. They work under the guidance of registered nurses, monitoring patient wellbeing, reporting concerns, and helping to create a safe and supportive hospital environment.

Job responsibilities

As a Healthcare Assistant you will practice empathetic communication with the patient and those important to them in a supportive, professional manner and provide high quality personal care and support to enhance wellbeing.

Contract: Permanent Part-Time (multiple positions available)

Work Schedule: Hours per Week, Monday to Sunday Including Bank Holidays

Shift Hours: 10:00pm 06:30am

Salary: £24,465 per Annum (pro rata), Plus High-Cost Area Supplement

Location: Community Based - Central Oxford

What we're looking for:

  • At least six months of recent experience providing care in a Health or Social Care Environment, including caring for patients at the end of life.
  • NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care or equivalent (preferred, not required).
  • Be person-centred and compassionate when caring for the person and those important to them.
  • Ability to develop and evaluate care management plans that meet the complex needs of the person, and those important to them.
  • Thorough understanding of the physical, psychological, social, and spiritual domains of palliative care.
  • Emotional resilience and the capacity to work independently.
  • A valid driving licence and access to a car for travel to patient homes are required.
