Exciting Opportunity: Medical Director at Marie Curie, London Marie Curie is seeking an exceptional Medical Director to lead and shape the future of palliative care services, driving innovation and excellence in patient-centred care.

Main duties of the job

Marie Curie is working in partnership with the Royal Free Hospital to establish two new palliative care services.

The successful candidate will provide senior medical support and leadership to ensure the delivery of high-quality, flexible, responsive, and person-centred palliative care to patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide medical leadership within the regional team.
  • Collaborate with the Associate Director to implement the place-based programme of work in the region.
  • Contribute to the integration of inpatient and community services within Marie Curie and with other providers.
  • Develop future strategic plans for clinical and educational services.
  • Use specialist palliative care knowledge to identify opportunities for innovative clinical practice.
  • Act as an ambassador for Marie Curie locally and regionally.

The post holder will also be involved in training and education initiatives, including undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programmes, as well as clinical supervision of resident medical staff and healthcare professional colleagues. This will be in collaboration with the Royal Free specialist palliative care team and neighbouring palliative care services.

Salary:NHS Pay Circular M&D 2/2025 £109,725 to £145,478 per annum pro rata plus London Weighting. (Placement on the salary scale is dependent on experience.) Plus 2% availability supplement.

Hours: 10 PAs per week with 1 in 8 Consultant 2nd on-call commitment

Contract:Permanent

  • Higher Medical Qualification: FRCP; MRCP; FRCA; MRCGP
  • GMC registered medical practitioner with a licence to practise
  • Be on or be eligible within 6 months from the date of interview for inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register for Palliative Medicine (via CCT, CESR or EC rights)
