Main duties of the job

The Clinical Nurse Manager at Marie Curie provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for community-based nursing services, ensuring high-quality palliative care is delivered across a defined geographic area. The role involves managing nursing staff, overseeing workforce planning, and ensuring services meet clinical and quality standards. Responsibilities include collaborating with commissioners and healthcare providers, supporting service development, managing budgets, and leading governance initiatives such as risk management and incident investigations. The manager also plays a key role in staff development, training delivery, and representing Marie Curie in local and national forums, all while promoting the charitys values of compassion, leadership, and people-centred care.

We have a full-time vacancy for a Clinical Nurse Manager to join our team in Devon. This is a homeworking role with expectations to travel across the region as required, including visits to services and local offices. You'll need to have provisions in place to work effectively from home while remaining flexible to meet service needs.

As a Clinical Nurse Manager, you will provide strategic and clinical leadership to a locally defined team within the Marie Curie Nursing Service. Your role will be pivotal in ensuring high-quality palliative care is delivered in the community, supporting patients to remain in their place of choice. You will oversee service development, workforce planning, and quality assurance, while also managing safeguarding investigations and clinical incidents.

This is a senior managerial position with significant scope for professional development. You'll collaborate with commissioners, GPs, hospices, and other stakeholders to shape services and identify growth opportunities. Hours: 37.5 hours per week (Between the hours of 08:00-18:00)

Location: Home working with some office requirement

Salary: £47,810 - £54,710 per annum (pro rata), in line with NHS Agenda for Change (AFC). Plus, full range of Marie Curie benefits, including enhancements for out of hours working.

  • Able to plan, delegate, schedule and prioritise own workload and that of others, within a changing environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and team working skills, e.g. negotiating, persuasion and coaching
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Willingness to travel & occasionally make overnight stays
