Job responsibilities

Location:Marie Curie Hospice, Newcastle

Salary:NHS Specialty Registrar Pay Scale £49,909 - £61,825 per annum pro rata (dependent on experience) plus on-call supplement.

Hours:24 Hours (1x 6 PAs) per week with 1 in 5 on-call commitment

Contract:Fixed-term - 12 months

Closing Date:23rd February 2025

Qualifications

Essential

• MB ChB or equivalent

Desirable

• Higher Medical Qualification
• Diploma in Palliative Medicine

Experience

Essential

• Full GMC registration, a licence to practise and at least 2 years of full-time postgraduate training, 2 of which must have been in relevant acute specialities (or demonstration of equivalent experience and competencies).
• Experience in Treating Primary and Secondary Malignant Disease, and symptoms in non-malignant conditions.
• Audit Skills.
• Teaching Skills.
• Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Excellent communications skills.

Desirable

• Knowledge and experience of symptom control.
• Research interest.

Personality/Aptitude/Motivation

Essential

• Good listener.
• Flexible.
• Able to motivate others.
• Ability to liaise effectively with healthcare teams out with the Hospice.
• Ability to work autonomously and use initiative while recognising own limitations and seeking help appropriately.

Desirable

• Understanding of management processes and issues.
