We are the largest non-NHS provider of end-of-life care in the UK, the only provider across all 4 nations, delivering community nursing and hospice care across the country, while providing information and support on all aspects of dying, death, and bereavement. Our leading research pushes the boundaries of what we know about good end-of-life, and our campaigns fight for a world where everyone gets to have the best possible quality of life while living with an illness they're likely to die from.

The care and support we provide is highly valued by the people we care for and their loved ones, but at present we are only reaching around 10% of dying people at the end of life. Right now, one in four people in the UK with a terminal illness, do not get the care or support they deserve at the end of their lives.

We are recruiting for a Registered Nurse to join our Inpatients Unit and Liverpool Hospice.

Hours: Full time 37.5 hours per week

Salary: AFC BAND 5 £28,407- £34,581 pro rata, per annum

Enhancements: 30% x your basic salary per hour paid for Saturdays & weekday night duty (8pm to 6am)and 60% x your basic salary per hour paid for Sundays and Public Bank Holidays

As a Registered Nurse, you'll be part of a multidisciplinary Team, working towards providing holistic, person-centred, end of life care, including assessing and understanding the care and support needs of patients and those important to them, planning and providing person centred care based on individual needs.

You will research and network across the system to understand the wide range of services available to patients and those important to them and work with other providers, supporting the wider system to improve the experience of dying, death and bereavement.

You will assume responsibility for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of evidence-based, high quality person-centred nursing care for people living with a terminal illness and those important to them.

What were looking for:

  • Registered Nurse on NMC Register
  • Experience in NHS or other relevant care setting, ideally in palliative care
  • Be person-centred and compassionate when caring for the person and those important to them
  • Ability to develop and evaluate care management plans alongside other healthcare professionals that meets the complex needs of the person, and those important to them
  • Proven understanding of the barriers and enablers to good communication and how challenges can be overcome
  • Willing to manage Healthcare Assistants
  • Ability to assess Healthcare Assistant clinical skills
  • The ability to co-ordinate care/prioritise patient need
  • Willing to develop the team alongside Senior Nurses
