Job summary

The Marie Curie Volunteer Companion Service enhances the support we provide to individuals identified as being in the last days/hours of life and those important to them. We are currently looking for a Volunteer Service Coordinator to support the delivery and coordination of this service within Harrogate District Hospital. If you have previous service delivery experience and a passion for volunteer services we want to hear from you!

Main duties of the job

Based within Harrogate District Hospital and working alongside our Volunteering and Palliative Care teams our Volunteer Coordinator will support the delivery and coordination of the Volunteer Companion service within the hospital.

Salary: £25,600 - £28,444 per annum

Hours/Contract: Permanent Full Time 37.5 hours per week

Based: Harrogate District Hospital

  • Previous experience of service delivery and coordination, preferably within volunteer management
  • A good understanding of how to proactively market services in the local community
  • Capability to design and deliver bespoke training to small groups

Marie Curie volunteers provide a wide range of services to those identified as being in the last days/hours of life and those important to them. End of Life Volunteers working within Harrogate District Hospital enhance the emotional and practical support we offer to patients, their families and carers within the last days and hours of their life.

Our Volunteer Coordinator will receive referrals, match volunteers to patients and their families and supervise them within their role. Working alongside relevant stakeholders you will design and implement a training and support program to help ensure our volunteers are fully prepared and supported in their roles.
