Title: Specialty Doctor

Location: Marie Curie Hospice, Bradford

Salary:NHS Specialty Doctor Pay Scale £52,530 - £82,400 per annum pro rata (dependent on experience) and 5% Availability Supplement

Hours:Weekly hours commitment is negotiable (between 16 and 40 hours per week) plus 1 in 5 on-calls

Contract: Fixed term 12 months

What we are looking for:

• Full GMC registration, a licence to practiceand at least 4 years of full-time postgraduate training (2 of which must have been in relevant acute specialities/or demonstration of equivalent experience and competencies). MB ChB or equivalent
• Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Communication skills that are sensitive to patients and carers
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are desirable.

You will primarily provide medical support, assessment and care for hospice inpatients and outpatients and those attending Wellbeing Service in our specialist unit in collaboration with the wider team.

This role involves participation in teaching and management activities at the hospice. You will be supported and encouraged to conduct audits/quality improvements and participate in activities related to maintaining clinical excellence within the service.

Previous experience in palliative medicine is desirable but not essential, and there will be education and supervision for the successful applicants.

The role involves first on-call cover for the hospice. On-call is a non-resident but includes returning to the hospice site out of hours when there is a clinical need.

Qualifications

Essential

• MB ChB or equivalent

Desirable

• Higher Medical Qualification e.g., MRCP, MRCGP
• Diploma in Palliative Medicine

Experience

Essential
