Title:Healthcare Assistant Planned Services

Salary: Marie Curie Clinical Pay Scale, Aligned with AFC Band 2 (£21,318 + enhancement pro rata) depending on candidate experience.

Hours/Contract:Full Time - 37.5 hours per week

Contract Type:Permanent

Based: Manchester

With experience of End of Life care, you're ready and able to make a real difference. Ours is a one-to-one approach to care, so you're sure to enjoy plenty of meaningful contact with patients and their families - usually in their own homes. Working without close supervision, you'll have the opportunity to use your own initiative in line with the patient's established care plan.

You'll be required to carry out a range of care duties including helping patients meet their hygiene needs, monitoring symptoms, assisting with medications and keeping detailed records and emotional support to the patient and their families.

What we are looking for:

• Relevant community experience
• S/NVQ Level 2/3 qualification or an equivalent certificate/diploma is desirable
• Emotional strength and the ability to work on your own are crucial, though we will of course provide excellent on-going training and support
• UK driving licence & access to a vehicle are essential

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

• S/NVQ Level 2 or 3 (or equivalent Certificate/Diploma) or
• willing to work towards this or the Marie Curie HCA Development Programme

Desirable

• Basic Food Hygiene Certificate

Experience

Essential

• Recent experience of caring for patients including the ability to:
• Recognise and report changes in the condition of the patient;
• Accurately document care given in patient documentation;
• Communicate basic information about care to carers and families.
• Experience in caring for dying patients
• Experience of working as part of a team

Desirable

• Experience of working in a specialist palliative care setting
• Experience of working in the community setting
