Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated Arts Therapist to join our Therapy Team at the Marie Curie West Midlands Hospice in Solihull.

Main duties of the job

The Candidatewill provide an art or music therapy service that addresses the full range of patients and family needs, in in-patient unit, to groups and individuals attending our support and wellbeing hub and also to patients at home in the community. The candidate will undertake assessment of patients emotional and psychological need regarding arts therapy and plan and implement suitable interventions to address these needs. The ideal candidate will have experience of working with people who are dealing with end-of-life issues and living with life limiting illness.

Title: Arts Therapist

Salary: Marie Curie Clinical Pay Scale, aligned with AFCBand 6 Range £35,392-£42,618 per annum, pro rata plus enhancements

Contract: Permanent,Full Time 37.5 hours a week

Based: Marie Curie Hospice, West Midlands

Closing date: 31st July 2023

The successful candidate will have the right qualifications and experience including working with patients and their families in health care settings using a broad range of arts therapy skills. You will be an effective communicator with good interpersonal skills, who is able to work as an autonomous practitioner and as part of a multidisciplinary team. In return, we offer you the opportunity to work within our supportive teams which promote and support ongoing development.

  • The candidatewill be an autonomous and experienced practitioner responsible for providing an arts therapy service that addresses the full range of patients and families needs from rehabilitation through to terminal care and bereavement.
  • Provide specialist input in education and training programmes within the hospice and charity.
  • Develop the arts therapy service in the context of the strategic direction of the charity.
  • Responsible for maintaining the arts materials and the working environment essential for arts therapy to occur.

What we are looking for:

  • Excellent communications skills, with the ability to work as an autonomous practitioner as well as a team player
  • Significant relevant experience post-qualification
  • Knowledge and understanding of palliative care
  • Degree in Art Therapy / Art Psychotherapywith registration with the HCPC.
  • Experience of working as part of a multi-disciplinary team

Must access to a vehicle and able to drive in the UK with business insurance
