As the Volunteer Coordinator you will be focusing on developing, delivering, and coordinating the Marie Curiehelper service across theEast Midlands. The Marie CurieHelperService providescompanionship and emotional supportto patients and their families who have a terminal illness . Volunteers also offer practical help and a break for families and carers. The main focus of the service is to improve the end-of-life experience for patients and their loved ones.

Your role as a Volunteer Service Coordinator will support the delivery and coordination of the helper service in the East Midlands . This will include the management and supervision of volunteers, meeting new clients of the service and matching them with a suitable volunteer. Plus, the recruitment, training, and ongoing management of volunteers to be able to effectively deliver the helper service.

We are looking for a highly organised individual with excellent communication skills to join our team. Strong planning and operational service delivery skills are essential with an ability to use your own initiative to make improvements to service delivery. Although not essential, experience of delivering services using volunteers, befrienders and working in partnership with external agencies is desired.

The successful candidate will work closely together with the local Marie Curie Midlands Team, including our Hospice & Nursing Service.As well as the wider Midlands and National Marie Curie Teams to establish a service that meets the local needs that is effective, linked to, and supported by, the wider organisation.

The ideal candidate will be a dynamic individual with excellent interpersonal skills with experience of utilising initiative and autonomy to establish professional relationships and support the development of new services.

The location of work will be primarilyEast Midlands with a local working base of Northampton,some travel to the Marie Curie West Midlands Hospice may also be required.
