You will be responsible for supporting
the designated Shop Manager in the day-to-day management of all activities with
the Lugley Street Shop.
Working alongside the Assistant Shop
Managers at Kissy Puppy and under the guidance of the designated Shop Manager
the post holder will ensure high customer service standards are upheld and will
assist in the recruitment, training, and management of shop volunteers on a
daily basis.
Main duties of the job
Your duties will range from receiving donations of goods from our customers, recruiting, managing and motivating volunteers, as well as making sure the shop is welcoming and inviting. In addition, you will be responsible for ensuring that donated goods are prepared and sorted ready for future sale. This role will involve a significant amount of manual handling, for which specific training will be provided to you.
You will be required to deputise for the designated Shop Manager at Lugley Street during periods of absences, holiday, and training.

Sales
In conjunction with the Shop
Manager and Area Manager, set and pursue sale targets and initiatives.
As
part of the Lugley Street Management team, ensure
excellent standards of customer service are always maintained.
Actively
support any fundraising promotions as required by Mountbatten.
Shop Appearance
Maintain
a high standard of presentation, both in the windows and the interior of the
shop.
As
part of the Lugley Street Management team, ensure the premises are clean, tidy,
well organised, and always maintained.
Stock
Price
stock at a consistent level in accordance with Mountbatten price guides.
Work with donors to facilitate the safe drop off or
collection of items.
Rotate
stock on a regular basis in line with Mountbatten guidelines, so that no
garment remains on the shop floor for any longer than the agreed time limits.
Actively
ask and promote Gift Aid to all customers.
Stock
Areas
Keep
stock areas organised, uncluttered and promote safe working practices.
Report
to the Shop Manager on any stock issues.
Volunteers
Support the recruitment and selection of
volunteers, in liaison with the Shop Manager and the Voluntary Services
Department.
Manage,
train and support volunteers, allocating duties and arranging rotas to ensure
that the shop always has sufficient cover.
Administration
and Security
Provide cover, as requested, at any of the other Mountbatten
retail outlets when required.
Assist
in managing the EPOS systems, ensuring accurate cash receipts, record-keeping
and banking is always adhered to in accordance with the cash handling policy.
Notify
the Shop Manager in the event of a break-in, suspected theft, or security
incident (this includes suspected dishonesty by employees or volunteers).
Attend monthly retail meetings.
Health
and Safety
Ensure a safe environment for staff, volunteers,
and the general public by maintaining strict adherence to Health and Safety
regulations and undertaking regular risk assessments as required, notifying any
issues of concern. Keeping own knowledge of H&S up to date through
attendance at mandatory training and always complying with manual handling
guidelines.
To
ensure all electrical items are PAT tested before being placed on sale.
