Job summary

As a member of the Senior Management Team, you will have responsibility for driving the finance agenda both strategically and operationally. You will play a significant role in helping us achieve our organisational goals and ambitions across the Isle of Wight and Hampshire and you will provide leadership to ensure the finance team deliver a high quality, proactive and responsive service.

Main duties of the job

You will take responsibility for overseeing all the financial aspects of Mountbatten financial strategy and overall responsibility for the financial and accounting functions including financial planning, ensuring the flow of timely and accurate financial information to the Chief Executive, the Board of Trustees, Senior Management Team and where necessary external parties.

You will lead, direct, and manage the work of the Finance teams across the organisation, with overall control of all financial transactions and accountancy matters, including audit systems. Ensuring that regulatory requirements of all statutory bodies are met, whilst working collaboratively with executive colleagues to ensure that the organisation runs smoothly, efficiently, and economically in a way which meets all regulatory requirements placed on the organisation.

  • Ability to deliver fast helicopter view financial analysis as well as bottom-up detailed modelling. Leads by example, promoting the highest standards of conduct, integrity, and probity
  • Very high degree of tact required in order to maintain relationships with external Stakeholders and Local Health Authorities
  • Ability to forward plan, prioritise and project manage to deliver successful outcomes
  • Ability to plan, organise and develop a broad range of activities or programmes or services to achieve strategic aims.

Experience

Essential

  • Substantial board level leadership experience and/or system leadership experience within a Hospice or Charity or Healthcare organisation
  • Demonstrable experience of providing financial leadership, mentorship, and professional development at a very senior level with demonstrable outcomes
  • Demonstrable knowledge of the health, care and local government landscape and an understanding of the resourcing implications relating to Health Care
  • A proven track record in managing financial risk and delivery of successful financial strategy
  • Advanced expert knowledge of UK and International Accounting Standards.
  • Understanding of the financial challenges facing Hospices in the 21st Century, in the context of wider economic conditions. Understanding of the political agenda for Health and Social
  • Experience of building personal and professional credibility with Board, management and clinical teams, employees, and volunteers
