Main duties of the job

Working as part of an outstanding team, you will provide support to your Fundraising colleagues in helping them deliver our fundraising programme, with particular focus on community fundraising activities.

Being the first point of contact for fundraising enquiries, you will have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong and effective relationships with everyone you meet.

To be successful in this role you will be highly motivated and organised with a positive approach to your work. You will have good data processing skills with significant attention to detail in terms of accuracy.

You will be able to demonstrate a positive commitment to uphold diversity and equality practices across Mountbatten Hampshire, acting as an ambassador in all aspects of your role.

Your local hospice

If you live in Southampton and west Hampshire, Mountbatten Hampshire (formerly Countess Mountbatten Hospice) is your local hospice.

We are a charity which provides free care and support to people with any life-limiting illness, including respiratory disease, Motor Neurone Disease, heart disease, advanced dementia, respiratory disease and cancer. We also provide free bereavement and psychological support to patients and their families.

Much of our work takes places in people's own homes across our community.

Mountbatten Hampshire, is part of the Mountbatten Group, and its sister Hospice is Mountbatten Isle of Wight.

Most people think that a hospice is somewhere you come to die. In fact, our aim is to help people to live as well as they possibly can with their illness. We are also there for families and friends who may need bereavement support after the death of a loved one.

Overview of Role

The post holder will be a key member of the fundraising team and will be responsible for providing support to the fundraising team to enable them to deliver key fundraising activities for Mountbatten Hampshire. The post holder will also be the main point of contact for members of the public and others in the organisation in relation to fundraising activities,

Key Tasks

· Under the supervision of the Head of Income Generation, the post holder will support the fundraising team to deliver Mountbatten Hampshire’s fundraising programmes to maximise income in alignment with Mountbatten Hampshire’s fundraising strategy.

· Provide excellent donor service to members of the public who enquire, via phone, mail or in person and ensure all supporters and volunteers are supported in a way which will make them feel valued, to encourage their long-term support of Mountbatten Hampshire

· Communicating and meeting with donors who bring or send donations into Mountbatten Hampshire where requested, ensuring all interactions are timely and where appropriate discuss with donors the diverse ways in which they can continue to support Mountbatten Hampshire

· Assist in delivering a schedule of planned activities, promotions and events as directed, the postholder will have the opportunity to develop their fundraising experience, by leading on small, planned activities as required.

· Collaborating with other members of the fundraising team prepare and organise the delivery of marketing plans and design assets dealing with third parties within agreed deadlines and budgets following Mountbatten purchasing procedures e.g., designers, advertising channels, photographers, internal stakeholders

· Working alongside the Fundraiser to help research, plan, deliver activities and attend fundraising activities as required, to include, but not limited to, sourcing and managing venues, equipment, third party suppliers, catering, First Aid, etc.

· Responsible for maintaining stock of merchandise, supplies and equipment in line with departmental requirements and budgets, ensuring new stock is ordered accordingly.

· Support with the reconciliation of financial information including supplier reports, transaction statements, monthly management accounts and legacy pipeline, where requested to do so.

· To maintain accurate and up to date records including communications on the supporter database, Raiser’s Edge, and ensure high standards of donor care and support

· Work alongside the Fundraising Administrator to ensure accurate processing of data to Mountbatten’s standards, to provide quality analysis, financial reporting, and strategic donor management as required

· Ensuring the Head of Income Generation and Fundraisers are regularly informed about key supporters/relationships as required

· To assist with the recruitment of Fundraising Volunteers wishing to support Mountbatten Hampshire Activities, ensuring they are recruited, trained, developed, and thanked in accordance with organisational procedures

· Undertake prospect research to identify potential and appropriate sponsors and gift in kind opportunities through partnerships

· Support relationship management of existing sponsors, partners, and donors

· Represent Mountbatten at networking activities when required to do so

· Support the fundraising team with administrative and general tasks, as required.

· Support in the development of digital marketing plans to maximise income and engagement preparing content, sourcing images, scheduling posts/blogs and reviewing impact as requested.
