The Role:

Here at TAAS we are reaching new heights and looking to further enhance our outstanding operational leadership team. This is a great opportunity for the right individual to really make their mark in how we develop our HEMS and TCAA services to further support our NHS stakeholders, and most importantly, our patients, their families, and the communities we serve. Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer the successful applicant will focus on continuous improvement of services, and delivery of the strategic plan, working collaboratively with internal and external senior clinicians, leaders and managers.

Main duties of the job

Key responsibilities Include:

  • Ensure regularity requirements of statutory bodies are met / exceeded.
  • Establish a strong working relationship with key stakeholders.
  • Lead forward thinking assetacquisition, lifecycle, lease, and maintenance.
  • Constantly monitor major commercial contract commitments and negotiate improvements.
  • Ensure Clinical Leadership is at national level and a platform for further advances in pre-hospital healthcare.
  • Enhance services to patients through continuous improvement.

The Organisation:

The Air Ambulance Service provides two very important functions, Helicopter Emergency Medical Services (HEMS) and The Childrens Air Ambulance (TCAA) which provides paediatric & neonatal specialist transfers across the UK. Our objective is to save lives, utilising specialist pilots, doctors, paramedics and TCAA Crew Members, and with our work centred on saving lives, improving clinical outcomes and being able to react quickly and efficiently to emergencies.

Accountable for HEMS and TCAA departmental business planning and budgeting.

Raise the profile of the organisation through partnerships, external networking, guest

speaking and the sharing of expertise.

Assess strategic risk across the organisation and ensure relevant mitigations are in place.

Follow industry trends and market changes to influence future strategy.

Assume responsibility for specialist officer and named manager roles.

Ensure the regularity requirements of statutory bodies are met for your Directorate.

Production and presentation of management information for your Directorate.

Establish a strong working relationship with key stakeholders, by working in a collaborative

manner.

Develop, review and update policies, procedures, and guidelines for your directorate and

actively support wider organisational reviews.

Embed our services as essential to our service users activity with long term focus.

Determine supplier choice and maximise their involvement.

Drive targeted diversification as key to sustainability and growth.

  • Degree in relevant subject or equivalent experience
  • Evidence of on-going professional development
