Job summary

Pilgrims Hospices in East Kent are expanding its clinical workforce to achieve a truly multidisciplinary senior leadership team that leads on strategic and organisational service development for supportive and end-of-life care in East Kent. This will include the recruitment of three Nurse Consultants (each based at one of our hospice sites) who will take on important decision-making powers for in-patient care and community outreach services.

We are looking for exceptional people with comprehensive nurse expertise and with a deep commitment to holistic care. From first assessment to the final days of life, our team ensures comfort and dignity throughout every stage.

Main duties of the job

As part of our clinical leadership team working alongside Consultants in Palliative Medicine, our Nurse Consultants will also be supported by Speciality doctors and doctors in training and Advanced Clinical Practitioners. This clinical leadership team will:

  • Deliver high-quality patient care with expertise and autonomy.
  • Develop and maintain specialist areas of interest to support our clinical strategy.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop policies and procedures.
  • Lead and motivate teams to improve standards of practice.
  • Contribute to research, evaluation and quality assurance initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and foster a patient-centred environment.

  • Current NMC Level One Registration;
  • MSc Palliative Care/Advanced Clinical Practice;
  • Advanced Clinical Assessment Skills;
  • Non-medical Prescribing;
  • Advanced Communication Skills

Desirable

  • Post-graduate Teaching Qualification;
  • Leadership Qualification;
  • Experience as a Designated Medical Practitioner DMP for non-medical prescribers

  • Significant Experience within a Specialist Palliative Care Environment;
  • Experience of working within palliative care at an advanced practice level;
  • Possesses range of clinical knowledge, skills & information technology expertise;
