Main duties of the job

We are seeking well-motivated and forward-thinking professionals to join our team, in supporting the development and growth of our hospices across east Kent.

As a member of the Administration team, the successful candidate will be involved in corporate day-to-day activities supporting the quality, growth and success of a much valued charitable organisation.

Key duties include:

  • To play a pivotal role within the community team and to work in close liaison with patients and their families, external professionals, multi disciplinary colleagues and volunteers.
  • To support the community teams to effectively manage the patient pathway caseload including booking home visits, outpatient appointments, telephone clinics, Patient Therapy Centres (PTC), outreach services and community discharges.
  • The role requires good problem solving skills and the ability to prioritise work load.
  • Ensure accurate entry of information onto the patient database and run reports as required.

Qualifications

Essential

  • At least three GCSEs or equivalent at grade C or higher including Maths and English.

Skills and Abilities

Essential

  • Ability to demonstrate high standards of verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to deal with matters of a sensitive and, at times distressing, nature.
  • Fast accurate audio typing skills, RSA Stage II or equivalent.
  • To be fully conversant with all Microsoft Office software.
  • Ability to learn and use internal and external IT systems.
  • Ability to prioritise a constantly changing workload and remain calm under pressure.
  • Work supportively in a team environment
  • Time management and organisational skills

Experience

Essential

  • Previous experience of working in an administrative or secretarial role

Desirable

  • Experience of working for a healthcare or charitable organisation.
  • Experience of using database.
