Job summary
As a Care Assistant you will be in a privileged position of caring for our vulnerable adults as part of our Nursing / Residential Team.
You will be providing person centred care in line with the 6 C’s of care practice, Compassion, Caring, Commitment, Competence, Communication and Courage.
You will be enabling and empowering residents to lead a full and active life.
You will be expected to work in all areas of Whiteley Village as required, and as appropriate to the skills of a Care Assistant.
You must show the following personal characteristics, aptitude, flexibility, and have the ability to work independently and as a team player.
All staff are required to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19, unless they have evidence that they are medically exempt from the requirement, as set out in DHSC Guidance on mandatory vaccination.
Main duties of the job
No day will be the same so you will need the personality to adapt to different ways of working.
Working as part of a team make sure residents’, dignity, privacy choices, rights, opportunities and independence are maintained and encouraged.
Ability to work alone at times and be observant in assessing the residents’ changing needs and report back to the relevant person.
Excellent communication skills as at times you will need to share information with others, residents, families, other workers and outside agencies.
- Ensure that a safe working environment and safe working practices are maintained at all times.
- Undertake any other duties which may be reasonably deemed to come within the scope of the post, relating to the activities of the department.
- Ensures full compliance with all the Trusts’ Policies and Procedures.
- To complete mandatory and job-related training as required.
- Be responsible for the confidentiality, integrity and availability of all data which you have access to in the course of your work.
About us
Our charity offers a wide variety of homes including over 250 listed almshouse cottages, extra-care flats and residential care. In 2019, following the closure of our former nursing home, Whiteley House, we opened the Eliza Palmer Hub, a state-of-the-art nursing care centre which also features a therapy suite and beautiful public cafe.
Most of our accommodation is intended for older people of limited means but we also offer residential and nursing care for those who can self-fund, and a limited number of purchase leasehold options.
