In-patient Specialist Palliative Care Service

Rowans
Hospice provides specialist palliative care to adults with life limiting
illnesses in Portsmouth and South East Hampshire. We work in partnership with Portsmouth
University Hospital NHS trust and our two Community Trusts to offer community,
day and in-patient specialist services.
We
are looking to cover maternity leave, with the possibility of a longer-term
post for the right candidate.
You
will join a friendly and well supported multi-professional team, committed to
high standards of care. Your primary
role will be to deliver specialist palliative care to the ward in-patients. This
is a service post to assist the Consultants and Specialist doctors with the
management of an increasingly complex and intense caseload. There is excellent
support for personal and career development with plenty of opportunity for
education and quality improvement work.
Main duties of the job
The
position is suitable for those who wish to gain experience and skills in
specialist palliative medicine. There will be opportunity for career
progression within the recently reformed Specialty Doctor contract.
The
role will form part of the Hospice on-call rota (a 2% availability supplement
is payable). The rota is non-resident,
and provides cover for Rowans Hospice in-patient unit 1 in 5 including
weekends, with senior supervision available at all times. We regret that on-call accommodation cannot
be provided; doctors are required to remain within one hours travelling
distance at all times whilst on-call.

and Study Leave will be paid pro rata (FTE 30 days Annual Leave; two days Study
Leave in 6 months).
