ADHD Specialist Practitioner (NMP) Band 8a Equivalent

Quay Primary Healthcare CIC

The closing date is 05 December 2024

Job summary

We are a growing and progressive Adult ADHD Service based entirely within primary care. We are a remote service who serves the Warrington population and recently Cheshire & Merseyside and Hereford & Worcester patients via Right to Choose options. We have an opportunity for a full time registered non-medical prescriber (NMP) with experience of working in a community setting who is committed to providing a high-quality service and has a desire to support in the development of our ADHD service.

We are a small, very busy and developing team consisting of experienced mental health nurses specialising in ADHD, GPs, and a supportive administration team. This post would ideally suit a highly motivated experienced and enthusiastic Nurse, with a specific interest in working with adult ADHD. They are proactively looking for an opportunity to develop their skills in ADHD, mental health and neurodiversity whilst working as a competent and autonomous clinician. This role is expected to supervise less experienced colleagues within the service and therefore experience in supervising a team or a desire to progress in this area is essential.

Main duties of the job

The purpose of this role is to assess, diagnose, treat and evaluate care for adults seeking an ADHD diagnosis. You will work alongside other health care professionals who are trained to assess ADHD in adults and have considerable experience in working in mental health. In this role you will be expected to undertake assessments of service users with suspected ADHD using your clinical skills and knowledge to diagnose where necessary and explore appropriate treatment and care options for ADHD in adults. This will include assisting with the ongoing management of those within the service from the point of referral through to shared care with their registered GP using a multi-disciplinary approach. Where necessary, training will be offered, and you will receive ongoing regular clinical supervision by qualified members of the ADHD team to support you in your professional development.

You will be expected to work independently within the framework of the teams policies and procedures and under the guidance of the Clinical Lead whilst providing line management and supervision of less experienced colleagues within the service. You will be expected to assist in clinically related administration, conduct of audits, collection of statistics, development of research projects, deliver training, and support service development work.

About us

Quay Primary Healthcare CIC started in 2014, as part of the Prime Ministers challenge fund. We are a primary care support organisation, with all the GP practices in Warrington as shareholders. We have seen significant shifts in Primary Care demands and structures, since 2019 and now the amalgamation of Clinical Commissioning Groups into Integrated Care Systems (ICS). As these grow, collaboration between primary care providers and their wider system partners is growing too.

Many primary care providers are taking advantage of the independent layers of scale to deliver for patients, reducing duplication, improving equity of access and delivering the right care at the right time in the right place. There is not a one-size-fits-all model and there is still a long way to go for many primary care providers. But we are beginning to see robust primary care systems that benefit from the different expertise and opportunities available at neighbourhood, place and system.
