Job summary

The role of the Senior Occupational Therapist will be to provide high quality rehabilitation care to our residents and will involve working at both sites; Lillington House and Helen Ley House. This will involve a range of neurological and MSK assessment and intervention skills, across different phases of treatment (slow stream rehabilitation to long term maintenance).

Main duties of the job

  • To work effectively as a member of a multi-disciplinary team in carrying out therapeutic activities to provide the optimal level of person centred support for adults with complex neurological conditions.
  • To treat residents, working within wellbeing, compensatory and rehabilitative approaches in a caring home environment.
  • The post holder will be required to carry out individual and group therapy sessions within the different phases of treatment.

About us

Castel Froma Neuro Care runs two care centre sites, Lillington House and Helen Ley for those with neurological conditions and brain injury.

We provide 24 hour nursing care as well as therapies including physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech & language, psychology and dietetics.

Staff at CFNC work as part of a multi-disciplinary team (MDT). This involves bringing together professionals of different backgrounds to work as a team in devising and implementing care packages to meet the individual needs and requirements of each resident.

We aim to:

  • Provide the highest standard of nursing and care for individuals with neurological conditions who have complex needs;
  • Bring together experts from every therapeutic field to help our residents live as full a life as possible;
  • Integrate family, friends and the local community into the lives of our residents and provide a supportive environment for their carers;
  • Excel in palliative and end of life care to help our residents live their last days as they would wish, free from pain and with as much dignity as possible.

Job responsibilities

Occupational performance assessment in neurological conditions including:

  • Assessments of client factors and performance skills such as ROM, tone, muscle power, sensation, co-ordination, attention, memory, judgement etc
  • Assessments of occupational performance areas such as personal management (dressing, bathing, toileting), productive use of time (task concept, routine).
OT treatment planning and execution, in neurological conditions, within a multi-disciplinary team including:

  • upper limb splinting
  • use of graded programmes to achieve maximal independence in occupational performance (ADL's and IADL's)
  • development of wellbeing programmes to optimise occupational meaning and purpose
To participate in all mandatory training updates.

To participate in the induction, training and education of students and other staff within the department.

To adhere to the department and Castel Froma Neuro Care's policies and procedures including infection control, safeguarding and manual handling.

  • Health Professions Council Registration

Desirable

  • Driver's license and access to own transport

  • At least 2 years' clinical experience working as an Occupational Therapist
