Job summary

The role of the Senior Speech and Language Therapist will be to provide high quality rehabilitation care to our residents. This will involve a range of neurological assessment and intervention skills, across different phases of treatment (slow stream rehabilitation to long term maintenance).

This role will involve working at both sites; Lillington House & Helen Ley House.

Main duties of the job

To prioritise, assess and manage own patient caseload, demonstrating specialised skills, experience and ability to work without supervision.

To promote effective and evidence based treatments, identifying and utilising evidence based outcome measures appropriate for the residents at Castel Froma Neuro Care

Castel Froma Neuro Care is a registered charity that cares for those with complex neurological conditions such as brain injury, MS, MND, Parkinson's disease and Huntingdon's disease. We have over 75 permanent residents across two sites (Lillington House and Helen Ley House), plus a number of respite guests who stay with us on a temporary basis.

To Follow Castel Froma Neuro Cares policies and procedures

Prioritising workload through demonstration of high level of understanding of clinical needs and risks to individuals to ensure residents psychological, social and physical needs are met

Communicating effectively and sensitively with residents, family, and carers as well as members of the clinical team and therapy services

Effectively communicate complex information to residents and family members regarding SALT interventions

Supporting residents with discharge home and have effective communication with external agencies to ensure the process is fluid

Maintaining your own continuous development professional practice, participate in performance and development reviews

To contribute to and participate in identified audit and service development projects

  • Degree level qualification in Speech & Language Therapy
  • Health Professions Council Registration
  • Driving Licence and access to own transport

Experience

  • At least 4 years' clinical experience working as a Speech & Language Therapist
  • Experience working with neurological conditions

Knowledge and Skills

Essential

  • Able to build effective working relationships with team members, outside colleagues, residents and relatives.
  • To have a positive attitude and enthusiasm towards residents and the wider work of the organisation.
  • Well organised with effective time management skills
