Job summary
Under the
direction and supervision of a Registered Therapist the post holder will be
expected to:
Carry out treatment programs with residents
Contribute to the effective and efficient
running of the Therapy service
Assist in the administration and clerical duties
of the department
Main duties of the job
To work effectively as a member of a multi-disciplinary team in carrying out department based therapeutic activities to provide the optimal level of person centred support for adults with complex neurological conditions.
To work with a qualified member of therapy staff to treat residents, working within wellbeing, compensatory and rehabilitative approaches in a caring home environment.
To assist with Aquatic Therapy treatment sessions following appropriate training, when service resumes.
About us
Castel Froma Neuro Care runs two care centre sites, Lillington House and Helen Ley for those with neurological conditions and brain injury.
We provide 24 hour nursing care as well as therapies including physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech & language, psychology and dietetics.
Staff at CFNC work as part of a multi-disciplinary team (MDT). This involves bringing together professionals of different backgrounds to work as a team in devising and implementing care packages to meet the individual needs and requirements of each resident.

Job responsibilities
- To treat
residents, who have been assessed by a Therapist, following appropriate
protocols/ individualised treatment plans e.g. stair
assessments, mobility, activities of daily living, individual activities
as part of ongoing treatment. You will only undertake tasks you have been trained to carry out such as applying splints, carrying out PMS.
- To
be able to recognise change in a residents condition and report findings to the most appropriate person.
- To
complete departmental competencies where available.
- Following
qualified therapy instructions to continue treatments such as exercise
programmes, tilt tabling, mobility practice and stair practice.
- Undertake
delegated tasks to contribute to the safe and smooth running of the
service.
- To
maintain the department and equipment in a clean and orderly manner,
bringing to the notice of relevant people anything that is damaged/worn.
- Plan
and prioritise own workload to ensure efficient working.
- To
report effectively to the Therapist on residents performance/progress with
treatment or give reasons why treatment was not carried out.
- To
answer the telephone in a polite manner, taking messages and relaying them
in a timely manner to the appropriate person.
- To
ensure that accurate, legible up to date written resident related records
and activity data are maintained in accordance with Professional,
Departmental and Castel Froma Neuro Care's standards.
- To
adhere to the Department and Castel Froma Neuro Care's policies and
procedures including infection control, safeguarding and manual handling.
- Reflect
on own practice and performance through regular participation in annual
reviews.
- To
participate in the induction, training and education of students and other
staff within the Physiotherapy Department.
- To
assist in the training of new assistants.
- To
participate in all mandatory training updates, relevant training and keep
a record of training and development activities (CPD)
- To
ensure that work areas are well maintained and comply with health and
safety guidelines, ensuring the safe use of equipment and storage of
materials.
- To
exercise good personal time management, punctuality and consistent
reliable attendance.
- To
be responsible for maintaining stock, advising on resources required to
carry out the job.

use resources in the most cost-effective manner.
- To
participate in Therapy team audit and evaluation activities as agreed with

- Supporting residents pre/during and post

- Carry out pool checks as per department process
