Job summary
The Clinical Lead for Occupational Therapy will be responsible for providing a highly specialised Occupational Therapy service to a complex caseload of residents with neurological conditions and brain injuries at Castel Froma Neuro Care (CFNC). The clinical lead will act as a role model for clinical and professional leadership and will ensure that ensure that high standards are achieved to provide the best evidence based practice for all residents.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work closely with the Therapy Manager on the planning, development and evaluation of the Occupational Therapy service within a multi-disciplinary team at CFNC.
The role of the Clinical Lead Occupational Therapist will be to provide high quality rehabilitation care to our residents. This will involve a range of neurological and MSK assessment and intervention skills, across different phases of treatment (slow stream rehabilitation to long term maintenance). You will be required to carry out individual and group therapy sessions within these phases of treatment.
The successful candidate will provide leadership and support to the Occupational Therapy team including therapists, assistants and companions.
They will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team alongside the nursing and care team, as well as liaising with outside professionals.

Castel Froma Neuro Care is a registered charity that cares for people with complex neurological conditions such as brain injury, MS, MND, Parkinson's disease and Huntingdon's disease.
We currently have over 90 permanent residents living across two sites (Lillington House and Helen Ley House), plus a regular turnover of respite guests, who stay with us on a temporary basis.

Principal duties and responsibilities:
- Taking an active role in the development of other staff members/students to continually improve practice of the service as a whole;
- Providing clinical supervision and appraisals to Occupational Therapists and ensuring all Therapy Assistants have supervision and appraisals;
- Providing leadership to the Activities Co-ordinators and ensuring Companions are utilised and timetabled appropriately;
- Being professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of your own work, this includes clinical, managerial and professional duties;
- Assisting the Therapy Manager with the recruitment of staff and support with development of staff members currently working within the service;
- Leading the Occupational Therapy team and activities with the day to day service, managing annual leave, staff absence, to ensure the service is safe and efficient;
- Taking a lead role with support from the Therapy Manager in the organisation of neurological occupational therapy provided at Castel Froma Neuro Care;
- Working with the Psychology department assessing capacity in different situations within and outside clinical settings;
- Ensuring the activity team are safely accessing the community with residents from Castel Froma Neuro Care;
- Prioritising and delegating caseloads to other Occupational Therapists depending on their experience and support with complex situations;
- Developing working guidelines and protocols with the Therapy Lead in accordance with National and Castel Froma Neuro Care policies;
- Being part of a team developing policies and protocols to ensure safe practice at Castel Froma Neuro Care;
- Identifying and utilising evidence-based outcome measures appropriate for residents at Castel Froma Neuro Care;
- Completing clinical audits of the service to ensure an effective, efficient service is being delivered;
