Job summary

St Teresas Hospice, Darlington is seeking a Clinical Services Manager to lead our Inpatient Unit and Community Hospice teams, ensuring that the Hospice's strategic vision and operational objectives are achieved through high-quality patient-centred care.

This is an exciting new role, with potential development opportunities including becoming the Hospice's CQC Registered Manager and Accountable Officer in the future, subject to succession planning needs.

30-37.5 hrs per week considered working primarily over Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm; may need to work unsociable hours on occasion, according to service needs.

St Teresas Hospice Band 7, £39,485-£47,095 per annum pro-rata.

Main duties of the job

We are a forward thinking, inclusive registered Charity with Inpatient, Outpatient and Community services, providing care and support to palliative patients and their families in their own homes and at St Teresas Hospice.

In this post, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management and operation of the Inpatient Unit and Community Hospice departments, including all nursing staff and clinical area volunteers, ensuring that the services are cost-effective and equitable for all service user groups and that the Hospices strategic vision and operational objectives are achieved.

Demonstrating a high level of clinical and managerial competence, you will lead on patient-focused care as a positive role model, demonstrating the Hospices core values.

Essential qualifications and skills include:

Registered Nurse with current NMC registration, and first-level degree in a relevant field

Post-registration experience in at least an NHS Agenda for Change Band 6 or equivalent position, in a role with a strong emphasis on palliative care

Experience of running a ward, department, or service, and managing budgets

Excellent clinical, organisational, interpersonal and communication skills

Strong leadership and motivational skills

Understanding of clinical governance, and Quality Improvement models
