Main duties of the job
We are looking to appoint a suitably qualified and enthusiastic Trust Doctor to provide specialist palliative care in our 13 bedded in-patient unit.
Dependent on experience, as well as ward duties you may be expected to provide telephone advice to the Specialist Community and Hospital Palliative Care teams as well as local GPs.

Manorlands Hospice is a 13 bedded hospice situated in its own grounds in Oxenhope near Keighley.
A range of inpatient, home care, outpatient and day therapy services are provided.
All the patients referred have advanced progressive, life limiting illnesses.
Manorlands is one of Sue Ryders 6 Hospices. As such Sue Ryder is one biggest providers of specialist palliative care in the country and now has an influential national profile.

About the role
We are looking to appoint a suitably qualified and enthusiastic Trust Doctor to provide specialist palliative care in our 13 bedded in-patient unit.
Dependent on experience, as well as ward duties you may be expected to provide telephone advice to the Specialist Community and Hospital Palliative Care teams as well as local GPs.
This post is fulltime which is broken down as follows:-
10 PAs per week (5 days 9am to 5pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday). This is split into 8 PAs direct clinical care and 2 PA supporting professional activity (SPA).-
Out of hours duties as part of a 1 in 5 non-resident first on call commitment including weeknights and weekends, and fair participation in bank holiday cover are scheduled and paid in line with the Terms and Conditions of Service for NHS Doctors and Dentists in Training (England).
Weeknight on calls run from 5pm- 9am.
Weekend on calls run from 9am Saturday- 9am Monday.
We do offer 24/7 admissions to the Hospice but approximately 85% of admissions are in normal working hours.
The out of hours doctor needs to be available to give medical advice on the phone and when necessary, attend patients at the hospice either to review or admit.
At weekends the on-call doctor will do a ward round on Saturday and Sunday, and clerk any urgent admission. There is a consultant led second on call always available for consultant advice.
This is a fixed term post for 6 months and while advertised as fulltime, applications from candidates wishing to job share or work less than fulltime will be considered.
The start date for the post is February 2025, but applicants who are seeking a later start date are encouraged to make contact to discuss this, as there is potential for this to be deferred for the right candidate.
