We are looking to employ an enthusiastic, compassionate and experienced Specialty doctor with an interest in Palliative medicine to join our Consultant led multidisciplinary team at Sue Ryder, Wheatfields Hospice

About us

Wheatfields hospice is one of seven Sue Ryder hospices. It provides specialist palliative care to patients in the hospice and community it has 16 in-patient beds, a community team, on site day hospice and outpatients and outpatient clinics in the community and acute hospital trust. There is also a wellbeing and bereavement service.

Job responsibilities

- Coordination of care of patients and families working with teams within and outside Sue Ryder.- In most roles, there will be a first-on on-call commitment. The frequency and responsibilities will vary.- In-patient roles carry out medical assessment of new patients, and management of patients, and support of families.- Community roles review, advice and support for patients and families patients may be seen as out-patients, or in their own homes- Participation in clinical governance, including audit and research.- Responsibilities for medical procedures will vary e.g. venesection, cannulation, and use of ultrasound, paracentesis and thoracentesis.For more information or an informal chat please contact Paul Musgrave, Service Director: paul.musgrave@sueryder.org

  • This is a fixed, six month post.
  • Salary will be aligned to the NHS Specialty Doctor Contract 2021 or the 2008 contract if this applies.
  • About you
  • - MB BCh Qualified
  • - Proven Knowledge, Skills and Ability
  • - Have completed the equivalent of 4 years of full time post graduate training, at least 2 of which are in a related specialty
  • - Evidence of continued professional development within specialty
  • - Good communication skills
  • - Demonstrate leadership skills
