Leckhampton Court is a Sue Ryder Hospice and is the only specialist palliative care unit in Gloucestershire. We support patients with life-limiting conditions to live the fullest life they can in both the inpatient unit as well as out in the local community, in peoples homes. Main duties of the job
About the Role:
Nurses on the IPU are required to cover rotational shifts. This includes earlies, lates, 12-hour day shifts, nights & weekends, long and short shifts to create a great work life balance. As this role is to cover a 24/7 service, we are looking for candidates who can offer some flexibility to cover working nights and weekend shifts.
The successful applicants will play an active role within our multidisciplinary team.
It's all about giving our patients the best possible quality of life. The support we offer is tailored to meet individuals' medical, social, spiritual, and emotional needs.
You will work alongside Specialty Doctors, therapy staff, volunteers and other vital members of the MDT taking a holistic approach in providing the best possible outcomes for each patient.

You will be an NMC registered nurse, with post-registration experience from an acute medical care setting. or community, hospice setting.
While palliative care experience is desirable, we will accept applications from nurses of varying backgrounds with a desire and willingness to learn and develop within the speciality of palliative care.
You will need to be able to demonstrate the ability to work well within a team, use initiative and have excellent communication skills.
Responsibilities:
Assess, plan, implement and evaluate individualised care using evidence-based guidelines.
Provide medicines management, including administering regular medications and set up syringe drivers and IV medication.
Maintain high standards of care delivery by working collaboratively within regulatory body standards and the Sue Ryder Quality Governance Policy.
Act as an ambassador of Sue Ryder to service users and their relatives, colleagues, and members of the public.
Have a good general knowledge of computer-based systems including SystmOne.
Maintain all records in line with policies and procedures.
Support students on placement at the hospice.
We will provide a thorough induction with supernumerary time to settle into the role and full training/competency assessment will be provided.
There is plenty of scope to further develop your own skills in specialist palliative care, and planned career progression through our education programme and development framework is encouraged.
