Job summary
We currently have an exciting
opportunity for a Full Time Specialist Physiotherapist in our national
specialist neurorehabilitation services at The Childrens Trust. The successful
candidate will carry a small caseload of children and young people with
acquired brain injury and Neurodisability in our neurorehabilitation in-patient
service and also across our community rehabilitation service on a 12-month
rotation.
You would work as part of a
multidisciplinary team to provide child and family centred care with is central
to our promises. You will supervise others and be involved in implementing
evidence-based practice and research. The service offers a range of
opportunities to be involved in audit, research and service evaluation.

Main duties of the job
The specialist physiotherapy rotation involves
working in inpatient rehabilitation and with the Community Rehabilitation
Service including young people accessing outpatient rehabilitation. The
rotation is a 12-month basis in each
setting.
As part of the physiotherapy service, you will lead
in delivering interventions that support the child and their family centred to
reach their goals through evidence-based practice, in order to promote physical
skills and participation in home, school and family life.
As part of the Community Rehabilitation Service you will support
community service provision, offering virtual advice and brain injury
education, early supported discharge from inpatient neurorehabilitation at The
Childrens Trust, outpatient packages and community rehabilitation in the Southeast
(restricted postcode locations), ensuring high quality, evidence-based
physiotherapy assessment and interventions to children and young people with
acquired brain injury and Neurodisability.

- Provide high quality, evidence-based
physiotherapy provision for children and young people, in partnership with
other members of the multi-disciplinary team services in rehabilitation, step
down and short break services as well as community services.
- Undertake specialist physiotherapy
assessments of children with a range of needs including highly complex needs.
- To assess for, plan, deliver
and evaluate physiotherapy interventions for children using facilities
available both on and off The Childrens Trust site.
- To produce functional and
participation-based goals in collaboration with the child / young person, family,
and MDT.
- To devise suitable
individual physiotherapy and 24-hour postural management advice for each child in
collaboration with their parents, and the MDT. These will be monitored/
evaluated and adjusted appropriately according to the needs of the child.
- To work collaboratively
with families to maximise engagement in therapy sessions, support management of
their childs needs and promote confidence in meeting their childs needs.
- To assess for, and
organise provision of, necessary therapy equipment and/or orthotics.
- To work closely with
all members of the MDT and the child and family to provide a fully integrated
approach to the overall management of the child.
- To support the implementation of specific respiratory physiotherapy programmes
and plans with the support of highly specialist physiotherapy staff.
- To liaise with all
appropriate medical staff whether employed by The Childrens Trust, visiting
consultants or at off-site clinics. To attend clinics / grand rounds as
required.

and openly with professional colleagues in other services to facilitate the
admission and transition process.
