Job summary
The Nursing Auxiliary plays
a crucial role in supporting the efficient and effective operation of the
Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC). This role involves a wide range of
responsibilities, including assisting qualified clinical staff, providing
administrative support, and ensuring patient safety and well-being in a
fast-paced environment.
Main duties of the job
- To work as a member of the urgent treatment centre (UTC) team and to establish and maintain the relationships within the team and across relevant teams in organisation.
- To support qualified staff in the management and execution of clinical practice
- To promote equality of care and non-discriminatory practice, acknowledging a patient's personal beliefs and identity
- To ensure that clinical information is passed to the appropriate member of the team
- To support patients and relatives in adjusting to the changed circumstances caused by illness and injury
- Provide reception cover to deliver a professional, confidential and efficient reception and follow-up service to patients attending the Urgent Treatment Centre, and provide clerical/administrative support.
- To work with the medicines management team to support in the safety of consumables and medicines located at the UTC sites.

Job responsibilities
Patient Care:
- Assisting qualified nursing staff with
patient assessments, triage, and treatment procedures.
- Monitoring patient vital signs and
reporting any changes to the appropriate healthcare professional.
- Providing basic patient support,
including emotional support and reassurance.
- Ensuring patient privacy, dignity, and
confidentiality.
- Assisting with minor procedures, such
as wound dressing and medication administration, under the direct
supervision of a qualified healthcare professional.
Administrative Support:
- Providing reception and clerical
support, including answering phones, scheduling appointments, and
maintaining patient records.
- Assisting with the management of
medical supplies and equipment.
- Preparing and maintaining patient
environments.
- Assisting with the coordination of
patient flow within the UTC.
Safety and Compliance:
- Adhering to NHS policies and procedures
related to infection control, safeguarding, and health and safety.
- Following safe moving and handling
techniques.
- Participating in mandatory training and
development activities.
- Ensuring compliance with all relevant
UTC protocols and guidelines.
Emergency Response:
- Responding to emergency situation as
needed, including assisting with CPR and administering emergency
medications.

Quality Improvement:
- Participating in quality improvement
initiatives and audits.
